Hi everyone, I would like to recommend Dave McHow (07814 8333 52) for plumbing work - he recently replaced a bath mixer tap for me. He was very reliable in telephone/message contact and helpful in discussing the replacement. He came to do the work at the agreed time. I will be asking him to quote for any future plumbing work I need to get done.

I also highly recommend Dave (Dave McHow (07814 8333 52) for plumbing work. After having another plumber attend three times this week to try and fix a leaky toilet, Dave arrived this promptly this morning and fixed the leak in half an hour. He did a great job and was very pleasant. I will use him again.
I'll add my recommendation to this deservedly long list- Dave was the only plumber of the many I contacted who could come out the same day for our toilet leak and carried out the fix quickly and with minimum fuss. Also checked all was ok the next day.

Another recommendation for Dave! Our kitchen sink (which had been newly fitted by another builder) broke and we had water pouring out over the floor. Dave was able to come within an hour of me phoning and returned an hour later to do the job. All sorted really quickly and he and his colleague were friendly and professional. I will definitely be using Dave again.
Our boiler packed in just before Christmas and Dave made a big effort to get it sorted quickly. It wasn't obvious what was wrong with it, but Dave worked it out and did the job efficiently and without a big bill at the end. We would definitely recommend him to others. A nice guy as well.
Another recommendation for Dave. My boiler started tripping my fuse on a Sunday night. I found his number here, he got back to me promptly and came on Monday morning. Quickly identified the issue, fitted a new thermostat and quickly got it back up and running. Really friendly and reliable
I would also like to recommend Dave from [www.mchow.co.uk] who was generally brilliant despite being lumbered with a complete idiot (me) who clearly knows nothing about plumbing. He fixed my bathroom taps with speed and efficiency. Excellent communication.

Just used Dave to sort out my heating. He fitted a couple of new valves and rewired the controller. All is working perfectly now!

Nice guy, reliable, did a great job. Definitely recommended. His number is going in my phone book in case of any future plumbing/heating work needed.

I used Dave recently, based on the feedback posted above. We had to rearrange his visits a few times because of schedules (mine & his) but he was incredibly communicative and identified the boiler problem quickly. I would agree he is reliable, friendly and did a good job. Will definitely use Dave again and recommend.

Another recommendation for Dave from McHow. I initially found him on this forum back in 2014 and have used his a few times since for unblocking a sink, fitting a new radiator and now adding a dishwasher to my kitchen (including removing and installing cupboards to accommodate this). Happy with all these jobs and at reasonable prices compared to other quotes that I've had.

Easily contactable and communicative on 07814833352 or [email protected]

And another recommendation for Dave. He turned up when he said he would, explained the problem about my leaking boiler and bought the part needed locally and fixed the issue. All for a very reasonable price so will be using him again if I need further work.

I found Dave on the forum after another plumber had completed half a job and become overwhelmed installing some cast iron radiators.

Dave and his team were great, very professional all dealt with in a very sraightforward manner. They are now my go to plumbing team.

Would absolutely recommend and will be using them again.

    • Easy to check if your car for ULEZ https://tfl.gov.uk/modes/driving/check-your-vehicle/ Zip car does a flexible point to point option  I usually cycle from a local station when going to festivals, I can get everything on my bike and stunned how much stuff some people take.  I've stewarded at festivals in recent year. There are usually shuttles for those going on foot, many for example still get the train to Glastonbury.
    • Hi there, I’m looking to borrow a 6x9” cake tin to bake a birthday cake this weekend if anyone can help? Thank you, Tom
    • At least one used to post but stopped posting, I think because he was given a really hard time on here, quite unfairly in my view. He had only just become a councillor, and to his great credit was trying to engage with the community, or at least that vocal part of it which posts on here. James Barber also  used to post on here, but I think unfortunately he is no longer a councillor. He was a very good one.
    • I thought that re ULEZ, but actually other places do have similar schemes, eg Bristol. I got caught by this a couple of years ago when Google maps sent me through Bristol en route to somewhere else. Though I did manage to get the fine waived. And other places are apparently going to have them, eg Oxford. As I found when I was considering selling the car in Oxford. Which I think is a very good thing, but not helpful if your car isn't compliant  Also in order to sell it I would presumably have to get it into working order, so I'd have to buy a new battery anyway. I use mostly buses and trains already, for travelling both within and outside London.  That's why I rarely use the car except for transporting bulky/heavy items, or going to places which aren't easy to reach via public transport, or giving people a lift who are not very mobile. The problem with hiring a car to go to a festival, for example,  is that I'd be paying for it to sit in a field for several days. And it would be impossible, or at least very difficult,  to transport a tent and camping equipment there by public transport. Not that I've been to any festivals lately. I think I'm talking myself into keeping the car. I did do sums when ULEZ came in. I've had a Freedom Pass for over fifteen years, gulp 😂 This is all true, but you have to factor in my age, convenience, and the waste of money in hiring a car if you aren't actually going to use it once you've got to your destination until you need to drive home. If there was a system like zip cars where you could drive somewhere and leave the car for someone else to use, then pick up another car just to drive back, that would be different. And hire charges are greater for older drivers (even though apparently the stats say we are safer) even assuming you can find a company which will hire you a car. Thank you, that's useful. I  keep meaning to  check for ULEZ compliance. A mechanic once told me I should do this, because his son had a similar issue and then found his car was actually compliant, and I never got round to it. It's a Micra so I probably need to contact Nissan (or could a garage check NOx output? Is this part of the MOT?)
