The Drum in North Cross Road will definitely be closing for good tomorrow night (Saturday 15th November) so if any of you want to pop in and have your last drinks in there tonight or tomorrow this will be your last chance.

For many of us regulars it will be the end of an era and I'd like to thank everyone involved with it - Dave, Sam, Coops, Marie, Brian, Annie, Nikki, Gaynor and anyone else who I may have forgotten, you know who you are) for all the good times I've had in there. Cheers!

Interestingly, 'vegetable' is not a botanical term, whereas 'fruit' is.

'Vegetable' is a culinary term that covers those plants that tend to be eaten with the starter or main course of a meal rather than desserts.

Hence a tomato is both a fruit and vegetable.

The US Supreme Court classed it as vegetable for tax purposes. More fule they.

Can someone pass me my pipe?

Sad I never made it for a final drink over the weekend, although to be honest, I'd said my goodbyes, and the best days of the place finished a while ago. Will be missed, but I think my wallet and my health will be in a better condition without it!

Back to house parties after hours!!!

    • Ah sorry, it was comedy.
    • I have never used AI in my life. It's just notes from my forthcoming monograph on light industry in Dulwich and Camberwell 1879-1946 (dates chosen for obvious reasons).
    • Thank you, this really made me chuckle. It's like you met my brother as he would be the one taking more than his share. Plus the 'pikey' chutney is a winner. Unusual as in can't be identified??? Sadly I'm not the host otherwise I would definitely do that I regularly shop in the Cheese Block and am a fan. But as people have pointed out, there is no cheese shop that charges less based on bulk, so Aldi unusual cheeses may be what the familam receive! Yay, so I can get discounted mouse nibbled cheese still! Oooo, now I do love a Stinking Bishop. It actually offends my stepmum by it's stinkiness but luckily she is not one of the attendees at this particular gathering.  This is blooming genius. It's actually my partner who has the biggest issue with buying in plastic so I will have to hide the wrappers from him!
