Peckhamgatecrasher
I know I'm getting older and therefore am probably senile, but I recall Camberwell Green having a rather splendiferous makeover only a few years ago. Indeed my daughter played in the little stream before the council in their wisdom, turned it off. Administrator Administrator Posted December 1, 2008 Administrator Share Posted December 1, 2008 The original post about the Camberwell Green campaign was moved to the Lounge as it is not East Dulwich specific. Please keep this thread about East Dulwich. Ted Max
Are you sure that wasn't the Princess Diana memorial, PGC?EDIT: Also, I cannot think of any parks in East Dulwich in need of a makeover. Peckhamgatecrasher
I know the difference between a bloody great ship and a piddling little stream. She'llsurvive
in st francis' park, under the trees behind st francis' road, it looks like someone has emptied the contents of an alcoholic's house. there's a TV and easy chair and everything, and it's been there for a few years (or maybe it changes, i haven't paid that much attention). So maybe we could do a "house doctor" style makeover on this area and turn it into an alfresco bar for stressed sainsbury's shoppers. pearl1
Do you by any chance know who decorted the park guerilla style with oil paintings earlier this year? xone
For me it would be the park next to Sainsbury's. I'm not sure if they own it. It's basically filthy and ankle deep in rubbish, sharp beer cans, fag packets and take away food packaging. It never seems to be cleaned or looked after and is getting worse and worse. There's bins in there which nobody seems to use. It's a nice little area other than that and having the closed in dog run is really handy Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/4675-park-in-east-dulwich-most-in-need-of-a-makeover/#findComment-151483 Share on other sites
Ondine
yes that's Sainsburys park. I complained loads of times when we used to see rats in the kids playground and they never once responded. Dire. Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/4675-park-in-east-dulwich-most-in-need-of-a-makeover/#findComment-151575 Share on other sites
David Mc
I don't think they own it, but they are (or were) responsible for its upkeep. I complained to the council about it a couple of years ago and they told me that. I called, spoke to the manager and it did get cleaned up. Not walked through it recently. Maybe we should all try again? Dez
Could we have an area of any local park that is free from dogs, cyclists and joggers, or am I asking too much? Peckhamgatecrasher
The roundabout at Goose Green/Lordship Lane comes to mind. Jeremy
Park free from Joggers? Seems rather arbitrary... you want an area of the park where you are not allowed to move beyond walking pace? Dez
Exactly. All three are a hazard to others who just want to stroll. I've been bitten by dogs and tripped by their extending leads, almost run down by cyclists, and run into by joggers. I've given up walking the parks for health reasons!
