I understood that it would only be once they'd finished the St Thomas St facade which, if you took a walk down there at all recently, looks a long way from completion.

Update: turns out if you ask nicely you sometimes get nice replies!

Hi @marke_se22, its narrow as we work on the facade of St Thomas Street and the concourse below, it will widen when that's finished mid-2016— Thameslink Programme (@TLProgramme) August 6, 2014

So there you have it - we're stuck with a narrow Platform 15 for the next two years...

Thanks for finding that out and sharing - I'd just assumed it would be very short term! Oh well.

Yes according to page below. But I would check.

We are working with the rail industry to help you get around during these disruptions. From Saturday 23 August to Sunday 31 August 2014, National Rail tickets will be accepted on any reasonable route on London Overground, First Capital Connect, Southern, Southeastern, South West Trains, London Underground, London Tramlink, DLR and London Buses.

For more information visit the Thameslink Programme website.

Hi All

Does anyone know if our season tickets will be accepted on the underground? I'm assuming yes, but it's actually pretty difficult to find out for sure from all the info handed out and on the internet.

I normally walk from L.Bridge to Bank where my office is and have an annual rail ticket, so considering getting a train from Denmark Hill to Victoria and then the district/circle to Cannon St, but don't want to be stung for the extra underground fee.

Thanks

As per the reply from OutOfFocus at the end of the first page of this thread:

I do a relatively similar journey and for the days when I'm coming in next week, I'm planning on coming in via City Thameslink. I used to take that option in the past quite a bit, particularly when the ED timetable wasn't as favourable as it currently it - it's perhaps 15 minutes walk from there to Bank but quite a nice one.

Thameslink with be rammed next week! Trains to the City/St Pancras leave Peckham Rye at 8.16, 8.36 and 8.41. Think there is an extra one at Denmark Hill around 8.20 which doesn't stop at Peckham which might be less busy. If the trains are a nightmare on Tuesday I'm going to get the bus in the rest of the week!

Fortunately they do tend to unload a large number of passengers at Denmark Hill, most of whom are heading to Kings, so there's usually some space at least.

In the past I've boarded at the tail end of the train on those 8.xx services and never had to squeeze on. It being August too should provide some small relief.

Would imagine, though, that the 40 will be horrific for anyone hoping to get on after NXR.

NXR to London Bridge is about 60 minute walk - good exercise

Or - walk to say, Camberwell and you'll hit a bunch of other routes headed into that part of town

I reckon buses won't be that bad anyway - at least if you leave a little earlier it's not a full train strike, and many other people will be travelling to other places

Those of you who use HOP or Brockley, there's a replacement bus service to Ladywell and Lewisham to connect with Southeastern and DLR services operating in the morning peak from 0630-0930.

London Overground are operating four additional trains per hour between Crystal Palace and Canada Water in the peaks, however Forest Hill station is expected to be very busy with a queuing system in place.

Nowhere that I could find but how many things finish on time is all I thought.

Fixed until the next timetable update in (I think) the spring, or at least until the next mega change at Christmas (20th December to 4th January).

    • A new roadmap (surely railmap?!) for rail accessibility has been published: https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/accessible-railways-roadmap It says "approximately 56% of stations and around 66% of the 1.3 billion journeys that take place on the network have step-free access to platforms...  "£373 million has been committed over the next 5 years to deliver Access for All projects, providing step-free access from station entrances to and between platforms, alongside other essential accessibility upgrades. These works, together, will increase the number of step-free stations across Great Britain from 56% to 58%. "This improvement will make travel easier with step-free access available at stations covering an increased share of total rail journeys – from 66% up to 71%" Don't know what that means for us here: upgrading Peckham Rye would cover a lot of rail journeys but the cost has no doubt increased from the £40m figure previously quoted. So that would eat into a lot of the funding.
