I've had a few sessions at the sports bar in Haymarket, where we'd go to (say) 100 Club for a gig, grab late beers at the bar then head to our booked booth at the sports bar where we'd be until 7 when the fight was over ie. Hatton v Mayweather.

Then down to a club in Vauxhall.

Bugger that !

I'll not even get out of bed this eve and hopefully will only need to be awake for 90 mins or so if I'm lucky with timing !

I went to bed early for Mayweather Hatton, and got about 4 hours sleep before making my way to a friend's in Crystal Palace. That was a good night, and DC I seriously recommend you try and get some shut eye.

The fight is scheduled for 4am our time, which means it could be any time between 4 and 6.

Mayweather totally owned Marquez, to the point of making him look almost amateur.

Marquez is the only guy who's (in my view) equalled Paquiao during their contests in recent years.

So, for me (and I know you shouldn't use such simple maths when comparing like this), Mayweather will let Pacman come in and defend as usual in his perfect style.

Floyd's not going to war until (if) he sees Pacman hurt or slow.

I have just tagged Quids and Otta on FB. I once had a school fight with Eamon Loughran, who went on to be world welterweight champion, one of the titles up for grabs tonight. :)

He said to me do you want to fight or do you want to box, I warn you that I'm the best boxer in Ballymena, so I recommend you don't choose to box....I chose fight and it didn't last long but at least I didn't box and I still have a nose and head.

Ps. There are regular photos of Eamon and Liam Neeson on FB. Liam Neeson fought at the same club as a boy.

Local heroes.

Almost identical except rounds 9 and 10.

I watched last night, and it must have been so frustrating for Manny. But Mayweather's reach advantage was so obvious, and Manny couldn't get in on him.

He did hurt him a coule of times though.

Anyone watch the domestic boxing at the weekend ?

Skeete, Mitchell, Buglioni.

Good British contests.

Then in Germany, Felix Sturm actually lost hit title to a non-German (a Russian) on POINTS !!

Then in USA there was Alvarez v Kirkland (good first upper cut, the boy walked right on to it).

    • I’m not a Gail’s fan but there’s no reason a business shouldn’t open on Christmas Day. However, nobody should be compelled to work the day which, given the widespread coverage of Gail’s questionable employment practices, has to be a possibility here.  The only business I ever use on the 25th is maybe a pub and that’s a rarity these days but buses running would be very welcome for visiting etc. But the swings in the park should definitely remain chained up. Are parks even open on Christmas Day?
    • To be honest, pal, it's not good being a fan of a local business and then not go there. One on hand, the barber shop literally next door to Romeo Jones started serving coffee. The Crown and Greyhound and Rocca serve coffee. Redemption Coffee opened up not far away, and then also Megan's next door to that. DVillage was serving coffee (but wasn't very popular), as was Au Ciel (which is). Maybe also Heritage Cheese, I don't know. There's also Flotsam and Jetsam doing coffee and sandwiches at Dulwich Picture Gallery in the other direction. The whole of Dulwich Village serves coffee. And yet on the other hand, there are enough punters to support all good coffee shops. With the exception of Rocca and Megan's (which are both big spaces) and C&G (which does coffee like everything else - slow and with bad service), all these places regularly get queues out the door. Gail's often has big queues and yet very few people crossed the street to Romeo Jones (which was much better)... Half the staff at Gail's are perfectly fine and efficient. The other half are pretty offhand and rude. It's certainly not welcoming or friendly service. But they're certainly hard working, and no doubt raking the money in for Luke Johnson...
    • Well according to a newspaper article, Gail’s is opening 10 shops in London,,, yup Dulwich is named 10/5 I seem to recall with others in London opening at 7 am…!, Guess that is to capture workers coming off all night shift. Offering free mince pies until they run out.. So very sad to hear about Romeo Jones… been a customer since the opening, any idea where Patrick has gone or details… please pm me.    What is going to be in its place…. Will be around in Jan…umm village is changing….
