Starting this year, I am offering lessons in how to use the debugger! Starting at a half-price deal of only ?595 (including tea and those funny biscuit selections which are exclusive to corporate catering). Roll up, roll up.

An ex-colleague one joked that the four principles of OO programming were inheritance, polymorphism, encapsulation, and to confuse anyone over the age of 45. I think he was put onto a "diversity" course after that.

Not working today, but very annoyingly I had an appointment at St Thomas' at 9 so was actually out of bed earlier than I ever bother with for work! Trains actually rather busy, but probably because the gits are running a Saturday service even though they're charging everyone full fares. Grr!

Less an issue with the debugger and more the dangers of not paying attention when hitting tab on the intellisense.

ie i had a BuyerAjaXGridApplet.BaseAjaxGridConfiguration instead of a BuyerAjaXGridApplet.BuyerAjaxGridConfiguration

stupid obvious error that slow slow brain failed to spot.

Oh and no choice macroban, thanks to this company's behemothic 'framework' you have to inherit if you want to achieve anything, as core code is locked away from the likes of me, contains far too much embedded logic and you have to override or extend if you want to do anything vaguely different from the (not especially useful) out-of-the-box functionality.

Grrrrrr,

*stretches and yawns luxuriously*

Hmm, being at home is niiice. I can, however, report that it's basstard cold outside, but a hot chocolate hit the spot. Mr. Moos legged it to B&Q as soon as I mentioned that it might be time to wake the baby. Hmm again. Cats remain supine.

Mockers, I don't think you write guff, but I've just looked up the two books you mentioned and it seems you might have been thinking of James Ellroy... But at least it shows you know your step-brother's taste! I'm about to embark on my own doorstep: David Simon's Homicide - A Year On The Killing Streets (thank you, darling).

Oh all right, I'll go and wake the baby instead. Tarnation.

Of course, you're right there Moos, always get those two confused for some reason.

I enjoyed about half of Homicide, and then just ran out of steam. It's very good as you'd expect from David Simon, it's just after a while i just stopped caring really.

it's basstard cold outside

It's pretty chilly inside too. My room thermometer won't budge over 15C despite having the heating on full blast since we got in two hours ago. Brrrrrrrrrrrr!

I'm going to have to resort to housework to keep me warm.

Still, better than being at work. Sorry Mockney.

    • https://www.standard.co.uk/news/crime/police-hunt-attack-south-london-b1247389.html Apologies if already posted on here - did look, couldn't find anything... 'The Metropolitan Police have appealed for help to find a man after a woman was seriously injured in an unprovoked attack in south London. The woman, in her 20s, was assaulted on Lordship Lane in East Dulwich at around 4.45pm on Monday August 25. She was treated by paramedics for injuries to her face and her jaw was broken in the attack. The victim was then taken to hospital and she continues to be supported by specialist officers. Officers are now searching for the suspect and are urging members of the public to come forward if they have information. He is described as a black man in his 30s or 40s with balding hair. He was wearing dark clothing during the attack. He is said to have approached the woman while she was by herself before swearing at her and then hitting her in the face. Detective constable Charlotte Kerr, who is leading the investigation, said: “We are working hard to find the person we believe is responsible for this senseless and unprovoked attack. “While we continue our enquiries, we hope our increased neighbourhood police presence will offer some reassurance to women and girls throughout the local area. “If you saw anything on Monday, 25 August – particularly between the junction of Lordship Lane and Chesterfield Grove at around 16:45hrs - do not hesitate to get in touch with us. “No matter how small you think your information is, it may be the key that unlocks our investigation.” Any witnesses or anyone who can help identify the suspect is asked to please contact the Met via 101, quoting 5018/25AUG or 01/7897951/25. Those who wish to share information anonymously can contact Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.'
