Quilmes is probably one of their more pedestrian offerings.

I can recommend trying any beer from one of the newish London breweries:

Kernel, Brixton, Beavertown (owned by Robert Plant's son). Beavertown's Gamma ray IPA OR the Black Betty black IPA are particularly good.

Otherwise, just try every bottle on offer until you find your favourites :)

Not sure who sells Thornbridge locally - Ocado carry some of their beers though, at a reasonable price.

Bossman is good... but a bit overpriced IMO. But useful to have it there to tide you over between Ocado deliveries. The costcutter (or whatever it calls itself now) on Bellenden Rd actually has a good selection too.

I actually think Pioneer is a little under-hopped for an American IPA! But a nice beer, and only ?2.50 in their on-site bar.

Thanks everybody. Some class recommendations by the sound of it.

thanks Red. topics I look forward to pondering on here in the near future;

- the price of fags... too high?

- best local payday loan provider

- who's got the best gear?

I went to the Beavertown open day on Saturday. Their Gamma Ray is indeed great. It was ?2.50 for 2/3 pints, ?2.50 for all bottles and ?2.50 for all cans.

I think I met the boss there on Saturday, which I guess must've been Plant Jnr.

it was rather a good day out; decent grub, excellent beer and the Rough Trade DJs.

If you buy a decent amount they'll give you 10% discount, which sweetens the price.

It's a high street shop - so it's going to cost more than online obvs, but for all the usual reasons I'm going to support a local shop which sells something I want - even if it does cost a few quid more. They've delivered orders to me at home too.. Though I'm not sure if this is standard practice.

If I were them I would consider promoting a discounted bulk order with home delivery. I'd use it for sure.

?2.50 a go? Sounds like a great way to spend a Saturday!

    • Thanks all!  KateS - boulangerie Jade is a nice cafe, but they don't do fresh cream cakes. Their eclairs are filled with patisserie cream (a kind of custard), not fresh cream. Azalea- thanks and I've been to Bunhead Bakery (a Palestinian bakery) in Herne Hill a few times. There's a nice chocolate bun they do, which is amazing when then sauce is warmed up. But I haven't seen any fresh cream things there, only white icing. Maybe it's only on a certain day.
    • Warning to parents using the playground in Dulwich Park. My daughter and her friends found a bag of ‘crunchy powder’ in the children’s playground this morning around 11ish. They thought it was ‘popping candy’ and all tried some before seen with it. Request to parents using the playground - if you see plastics bags with suspect looking contents or powder on the floor in the playground or park: pick it up and throw it in the bin. Don’t walk past and think someone else will deal with it. The next person to walk by might be a child who could pick it up not understanding what it could be. Hopefully our daughter and her friends will be ok and it’s a lucky escape. But please be aware in case anyone else’s child may have found it before them.
    • I’m looking for some ply sheets, ideally 9mm or 12mm. It doesn’t have to look good. As long as it’s not rotten it’ll be fine. I’d like bigger sheets, but I’m open to whatever anyone’s got. If you can help, drop me a DM.  Cheers
