Is this one of those "you know you are getting old when..." moments - like when some police men look young to you? This will be the first Doctor to be younger than me (well, actor I mean... the doctor is meant to be 900 and something)

I didn't see party animals, but he was good in that thing with Philip Pullman thing with Billie Piper. Not remotely moody looking in that though, more of a cheeky chappie.

Well, hopefully being young he will last for a while in the role. I think time lords are only meant to be able to regenerate 12 times and this will be the tenth so in theory we only have two doctors more after him.

I am pretty sure that it was only supposed to be 8 or 9 times - the regenerating thing.

lol, I blame my mum, she was always a sci fi geek and though I've managed to not get into star Trek or all the spin offs, somehow Doctor Who stuck. Nothing to do with how gorgeous David Tennant is at all (she lied)

*Places nerdy hat on head*

*Clears throat in a "I can't believe you people don't know this, I shall enlighten you" kind of way*

For starters this will be the the 11th Dr, secondly, they can only regenerate twelve times and thirdly I believe there are ways of getting around the 12 regenerations rule....

I didn't say the new chap was the 10th doctor, I said this would be the 10th regeneration, which implies 11th doctor does it not?

And I am sure the BBC will find a way round the 12 regeneration rule if it suits them - Doctor Who must be a huge money spinner for them now! Though whether it will remain so now Russell T Davies isn't involved is another matter.

I am cautiously optimistic - so much will depend on the quality of the scripts he gets, but Moffat rarely disappoints.

I would be surpised though if any actor ever matches David Tennant's amazingly high standard in the role - and, yes, I do include Baker, Pertwee and the rest of them in that assessment.

I have googled it and apparently Timelords can get more regenerations - apparently The Master was granted extra regenerations for fighting in the Time War.

That's a sentence I never thought I'd type. I've gone over to the dark side.

Anyway, Moffatt wrote the best episodes of the last few series, and Matt Smith seems to be a good actor so I'm not worried. (apart from about what has happened to my street cred)

    • I’m not sure how many other people have experienced this; but both me and one of my friends have the same story. Around Crawthew Grove and Crystal Palace Road: I was followed by a large fox right on my heel. At first I didn’t notice because I had my headphones on, but then I noticed my shadow had an extra lump in it, funnily enough, it was a fox, very very close to my feet. Even if I sped up walking it just tried to get closer - it was quite frightening actually, it was quite clear that it wanted to nip me. I didn’t know what to do so, I started to reprimand the fox and walked slowly away from it, facing it - which it didn’t seem to like and backed off a bit. I then proceeded to speed-walk away.   Quite frankly, the whole situation was quite embarrassing and a little bit frightful as I’d never had a fox even come up to me. I’ve heard of particularly curious foxes that might come up to someone who beckons them, and maybe even bite that person, but I’ve never heard of a fox chasing someone. The amount of confidence that it had was incredible.    When it happened, I was on the way to see some friends, and once I had told one of them, she told me the same thing happened to her.  if anyone else knows anything about this bitey fox then let me know!
    • Another recommendation for Andy. I needed an old kitchen removed as an emergency. Andy came over quickly and did a fantastic job. I have used Andy a few times. He is punctual, helpful and always does an  excellent job.
