New Shops in Dulwich / Peckham

Also just enjoyed a huge veggie breakfast at Cafe 325 this morning, really hit the spot and only a fiver. Lots of good value sounding meals on the menu from jacket potatoes and omelettes to bigger hot meals. Can see myself popping in for take out when feeling lazy. I hope they stick around. Anyone know their opening hours? Forgot to check.

Banh Banh (vietnamese) have moved out of the Bussey building, and opening up their own place on Rye Lane (the bit near Rosie's, Pedler, etc)

I like the White Horse. It's a bit smarter than before, but not tarted up. Really nice pub, nice features, lots of wood panelling, open fires, etc. Pool table and darts still there. Really friendly staff. Reasonable beer selection - maybe 5 ales, a few bottled craft beers. Basic food but decent.. small menu, around 6 mains which is fine with me.

I think some people are put off because it still looks a bit shit from the front - same old crappy wooden fence and benches. I imagine they'll want to sort this out before the summer.

Workmen had the front of "John the Unicorn" open this morning.

Maybe putting in windows or such.

Still doesn't look like a bar inside yet.

I had lunch at the White Horse recently - my first visit - and really enjoyed it. Friendly staff as Jeremy says, good ales and very nice food, reasonably priced. A find, for me anyway.

Looks like the Dead Dolls on Clayton Road has gone and been rebranded as The Clayton Arms http://www.claytonarms.co.uk. Can only be an improvement in my (personal!!) opinion.

As this is now just round the corner from The Copper Tap at the Red Cow and a gentle stroll from Beer Rebelion, this looks like a nice little cluster of beer haunts.

Oh and Melange, the lovely chocolate shop, is now open in its new premises on Maxted Road. Still has a little space for coffee too.

Yep, that Dead Doll place always looked dead. The concept was seriously out of step with the area. Hope they manage to turn it around.

Quick thumbs-up for Mr Bao. Pleasant and informative staff, tasty and interesting food and you can grab a light bite from the brunch menu for under ?5.

But the old Clayton Arms is the only pub I walked in to

find no clients, no staff and just me in the pub.

New restaurant The Habit on Nunhead Lane and Bambuni is closed until spring as it's moving along a few doors to new premises.
