What's a semi-formal dining concept?

It all seemed very informal to me, including stools at the window, and mostly snacky things :)

Its less formal than a traditional formal dining concept but more formal than a shack serving take-out street food which is what Bao is traditionally. I'd say it's a pretty accurate description of Mr Bao.

Went to Cravings last night - lovely food - not crazily gourmet but super friendly service and good prices for what you're getting. The tacos were a highlight. We sat in as we were going to the quiz at the White Horse next door after and the ambience was a bit too brightly lit but its a takeaway affairs mostly so don't think you can really complain.

Yeah Cravings isn't "gourmet" as such, it's pretty "rustic" type stuff but it's pretty decent. The cheese stuffed arepas and the deep fried things (tostadas?) were my favourites.

They don't help themselves with the lighting/music/decor, but I would probably not eat in anyway.

I think (from another thread?) it is also selling wholesale hair salon products?

  • 3 weeks later...

When they announced the opening on Twitter they said it would be a long while before it opened. I'm not sure why. Perhaps they need to prepare planning documents or something.

    • Seconded. Called this morning after reading this recommendation. He sent Andy round who diagnosed, checked and fixed a leaky shower. Very fairly priced, £124 for call out, materials and a good hours work. I’m delighted.
    • I've looked up previous media coverage and gather that the school warned pupils of the risk of police 'fines' for assembly under the extant Covid regulations.  Don't you think they might have felt it a duty, to both pupils and parents, to do so?
    • I'm glad that Barry's have posted.  Their mention of the merger soon led me to (a) bushy-tailed  PR guff about the new member joining the inpost 'family' and promising a bright happy world of lockers etc ahead. and (b) clear signs that the same problems related here seem to have been current and widespread even three months ago.  That's just from looking at one thread: https://www.reddit.com/r/vinted/comments/1nlv3u2/yodelinpost_merger_issues/
    • @first mate not aware of any either. Found this relating to 23-24..  https://services.southwark.gov.uk/southwark-creates/funding/cultural-celebrations-fund?chapter=4
