::O it takes 20mins to drink a pint?!!!

Lovely pics for the ever size increasing EDF drinks... I miss you guys at times! :p

I would love to attend one of these drinks one day. Firstly, though, I may have to stop stalking this forum and start participating more actively. I would go to the next one at Black Cherry, but I have a friend's wedding to go that day. Judging by the photos there seems to be a good crowd of people there. It's always good to make the world a smaller place, isn't it?

Right, I'm going to stop being lazy and start posting more often. I have plenty to say on SE22, despite being a SE23 resident. Maybe I'll be able to break my EDF drinks cherry at the March meeting. Here's hoping.

    • Most of the above but, as mentioned, blackbirds are much rarer. Cats without bells on collars are a scourge and menace, maim and kill so many birds (and mammals, amphibians)…
    • That seems more like the initial reports, where the beeping appears to be clearly heard but difficult to locate.   I don't know what experiments would then be useful.  I'd suggest something like: go to the area at night when there's little other noise.  Have with you any of (a) a stout tube -- apply to one ear, block the other; (b)  some electronic recording or audio-sampling device(s).  In both cases they could be used in different locations and/or orientations (principally rotation about a vertical axis), with a view to finding variations in perceived or received intensity.   Maybe take someone with you to video the proceedings. 🙂
    • Agree, the merlin app is really useful, especially if you are bird spotting somewhere like Greendale where it's much easier to hear birds than see them! Once you've learnt a call you can look out for the bird... Sue – I saw a pair of long tailed tits in East Dulwich Grove yesterday : )
    • I may have found the cause. Popped up to Erics this morning, and just opposite the Jewellers I heard the beeping. Stopping there for a few minutes I pinpointed it to either the beige campervan , the trailer or the building they are both parked outside. Acoustics make it hard to pin down exactly.
