mannymanuel
It's quite possible that nobody cares about this except for me, but as a dog owner I'd find it really useful to know where is and isn't dog friendly in East Dulwich and Peckham Rye. I went past the snazzy new Cafe G on my dog walk today in the hope of a hot takeaway coffee, but was turned away due to my furry companion. It's one of many walks of shame that I've had to do out of cafes and pubs as a result of not knowing what the rules are. The definite dog friendies that I know of are: Aneto's, Boulangerie Jade, Viva, Petit Pou and Bluebrick. Places that need clarification: Blackbird, Clockhouse, Andersons. (Blackbird is the most indecisive - I've been there numerous times with my dog without trouble but on 2 recent occasions have been asked to leave). Please share your knowledge, dog owners of ED! Winter is rolling in - takeaway coffees are soon to become of utmost importance :D Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/50005-dog-friendly-east-dulwich-what-isisnt/ Share on other sites

Loz
I am so surprised they allow dogs (well, any animals) in eating establishments over here. As far as I've seen, in most countries it is illegal (guide dogs excepted).I like dogs, but I wouldn't eat anywhere that had dogs in. 1 Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/50005-dog-friendly-east-dulwich-what-isisnt/#findComment-787881 Share on other sites

bornagain
I was in a very upmarket restaurant in Lille (admittedly quite a while ago) and was very surprised when a posh lady lunching next to me got up and out popped a little pooch from her lap. It had been there the entire meal! It seemed entirely ok with everyone there. Dogs that go into cafes and restaurants/pubs don't tend to go into the food prep area. niknak
Most pubs around ED are totally fine with dogs - the only ones I know of that don't allow dogs are the EDT and PalmerstonQuite a lot of shops are dog-friendly too... although often depends on the size of the shop and dog! Peckhamrye
We have spent the last week in Devon and Cornwall and 95% of shops/pubs/cafes welcomed dogs. If they didn't they would lose a huge amount of business. Robert Poste's Child
William Rose definitely doesn't. A friend's dog I was looking after a while back refused to stay outside, which didn't go down well, although I managed to get her out again before the trolley dash she obviously had in mind. beababies
Great thread :)! Very helpful to know where is and isn't dog friendly locally! I would've guessed Cafe G would be OK with selling you a take away coffee, especially being right on the park (some places will very kindly come and serve you at the door if dogs aren't allowed inside!). To confirm comments above, Yup, France is very very dog friendly :) and so is the uk countryside I've found. ED is very dog friendly as well though :) I've been welcomed with my small dog in many shops and pubs locally. Guessing shops depend on the size of the dog though! Here's ones I can confirm from my experience other than those already mentioned:Dog Friendly:Clockhouse (they have dog treats and water bowls inside :) !) The PloughChandelier (in the back area)The Victoria InnPrettysOddono's (dogs not OK inside but they'll serve you takeaway at the door ;) !) The PatchThe Great ExhibitionRye BooksEDMrs RobinsonTomlinsonsAntique place open on weekends off of Northcross RdNot Dog Friendly:Duck Egg Cafe (dogs only OK outside, although once when I'd already ordered and it started raining they let me sit at the front counter on the stools :) !)Blackbird (at the one in Herne Hill dogs are only OK outside)Londis (not allowed inside though they did watch/hold my dog for me when I ran in once :) !)Supermarkets FYI, new dog owners, dogs are allowed on public transport no problem :) - buses (although if there's already a dog on the bus they sometimes say no), underground, trains. . .
