Mick Mac
Probably not what you are looking for but Winston Churchill had the chance to create a United Ireland when as Foreign Secretary in 1920 he had the chance to concede Ireland to the Irish, but instead created a separate state of Northern Ireland and the rest is history. candj
SteveT, WHO? I've been wracking my brain along with my Irish husband and we can't come up with anyone.... When you say "had he chosen to stand as leader" does that mean he was never in public office? Ie, not de Valera (born in America anyway), Michael Collins... who? Tony Blair is the best answer we can give, but he's been in public office and he's too busy with the ME these days. Lloyd George? Unite how, in politics or football?
