If McCabe doesn't want to go there - and it seems neither side wants to go there - I am wondering if it because he has seen West Ham's books and takes the pragmatic view that a third of a cake is better than none at all? After all that it looks like it still may not be all over for West Ham and there could still be another fine or even a points deduction...

LOL!

LadyG, a 4-4 thriller at Old Trafford? Would make for quite the match, but I susepct it'll be more of a 1-1 / 1-0 / 0-1 type affair.

Agre with Matthew, even a win today would not bring the league Liverpool's way, Man U just are not likely to drop more than 3 ponts the rest of the season. However, I think a second place finish within touching distance of first would actually be a significant improvement for the pool (once people forget disappointment and look at previous tables). Still need to keep plugging aay though, and a win today would still be very nice...

I disagree - any disappointment will not be forgotten. I've still not forgiven David James, 'Jessie James' cowboy mistakes, against United, from 12 years ago, that cost us title.

Mike - do you really find that sort of thing funny? I think its nasty and inappropriate. A lot of people lost their lives and not just footballers. I hope decent people on this forum let you know what they think of this type of comment.

Mike CG you are a disgusting human being and I hope you get banned from the forum. Maybe you've got a song for the dead of Hillsborough or Heysel or Bradford?

Good stuff from Liverpool today, we were poor, Vidic and VDS especially. Is this the result you need to win the league?

Now that that offensive and disgusting post has been erased (thank you admins) I will re-post my congratulations to Liverpool. Very well played today, we were very poor, especially Vidic and VDS. Does this mean that Liverpool are now on their way to glory?

Back on topic...

I think this certainly makes it a bit more intersting but my money is still on Man U (well actually it's on Chelsea but I think I've lost that). The other end of the table is really exciting....Newcastle looking very vunerable with Arsenal and Chelsea their next two games.

A question for the Liverpool fans. Why hasn't Benitez let them play like this all season? I think he's found his courage too late for this particular pot but Europe...who know?

Rafa is too cautious, and I don't think that is going to change. Having said that they've beaten Chelsea, United and Real Madrid all home an away this season, so that proves they have the players to do the job. I can imagine Ferguson is having a fit as now everyone in Europe knows Liverpool are the best even if they do win the title this season for the 18th time.

I could have been at Old Trafford today, but gave my ticket to a friend. Do I regret it!? Hell no! When I go to Old Trafford it's always bad luck, so feel relieved I've done my bit for the 'cause' :))

Have to say though, I am slightly disappointed it wasn't 6-1, I think Gerrard should have scored a second, and El Zhar should have made an easy pass for Babel to score in the last seconds. Anyway, 4-1 is not bad.

    • Another recommendation for Dulwich Test and Services Centre. Only been using them for a couple of years but wish I’d found them earlier
    • A new roadmap (surely railmap?!) for rail accessibility has been published: https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/accessible-railways-roadmap It says "approximately 56% of stations and around 66% of the 1.3 billion journeys that take place on the network have step-free access to platforms...  "£373 million has been committed over the next 5 years to deliver Access for All projects, providing step-free access from station entrances to and between platforms, alongside other essential accessibility upgrades. These works, together, will increase the number of step-free stations across Great Britain from 56% to 58%. "This improvement will make travel easier with step-free access available at stations covering an increased share of total rail journeys – from 66% up to 71%" Don't know what that means for us here: upgrading Peckham Rye would cover a lot of rail journeys but the cost has no doubt increased from the £40m figure previously quoted. So that would eat into a lot of the funding.
