Thanks for that reminder Matt.

Matt - I expect you would be in the minority across Europe in not wanting Celtic in the Champions League:

"Russian praises celtic park as 'best in europe'"

.

"IN terms of stadium support, Celtic is easily the best in Europe and for 90 minutes the away team is exposed to the most powerful noise attack."

Those words of praise for the Celtic support and the warning to Dinamo Moscow have come from former Spartak Moscow boss, Stanislav Cherchesov.

Cherchesov was in charge of Spartak two years ago when they faced Celtic in a UEFA Champions League qualifier. The Hoops progressed to the group stages following a dramatic penalty shoot-out at Celtic Park and the whole experience left a lasting impressing on the Russian.

And he believes the Dinamo players are about to experience something that they have never done before in their football careers.

The Celtic team has changed but the fan base remains the same," Cherchesov said. ?Dinamo have to ensure they?re ready psychologically for the first leg.?

And Cherchesov also had experience of Celtic Park as a player, having been part of the FC Tirol side which lost 6-3 in Glasgow in a UEFA Cup match back in 1997.

The Austrian side won the first leg 2-1 but were well beaten in the return match.

?I played against Celtic for FC Tirol in the UEFA Cup,? Cherchesov said. ?We won at home then, in the second leg, I remember the atmosphere created by their supporters at Parkhead. We crumbled.?

And I expect Arsenal to crumble a couple of weeks later :)

Not as soon as Celtic though eh big boy

Talk about arrogance from Real Madrid with this corker from their Sporting Director

?The problem with Alonso is there are no alternatives, with the way football is evolving, the creative central midfielder is becoming fewer and fewer. Alonso is not a fad, there are just not may alternatives - not in the Americas or in Europe are their players who can perform his task. They stalled, from day one - the demands of Liverpool were beyond what Madrid was willing to pay and that is very difficult to understand. That is not the way to get things done, but I have not given up hope we can solve this.?

Barcelona 'have had an offer of about ?38m plus Eto'o, in exchange for Zlatan Ibrahimovic, accepted while Alexander Hleb will also join Inter on loan.'

That basically prices 27 year old Ibrahimovic as more expensive than Kaka! I've seen Ibrahimovic play 4 times and have to say each time he has been very disappointing. For all the money Real Madrid have spent this summer I think this Barcelona deal is going to be their biggest boost of wrestling back the La Liga title.

Celtic have bought Danny Fox:

After a frantic day of activity, Mowbray last night completed the ?1.5 million deal to make Danny Fox, 23, the Coventry City defender, his third signing for Celtic, in time for player to be eligible to face Dynamo Moscow in next week?s Champions League third qualifying round, first leg in Glasgow. Fox will make his debut against Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday in the Wembley Cup.

Does anyone know if he is any good? Have to say its nice to see some players going from England to Celtic, Martin ONeill was successful in attracting Premiership players to Celtic, Chris Sutton, Neil Lennon and John Hartson for example. Under Gordon Strachan noone wanted to join us so things seem to be picking up, Celtic should be a club thats capable of attracting good players.

Anyway - anyone know Danny Fox?

Mick - sounds like you'll be supporting the Reds this season then!

Not necessarily Matt - Its just I have heard this song about Steven Gerrard and thought it was rubbish as he never seemed that hard to me (not by Souness/Keane standards) - but he has now proved me wrong with this bar room brawl - he has a boxer's punch. Looks like he was provoked and the other guys elbowed him in the face before he retailliated, so i hope he is found innocent. I also think he handled himself well in court based upon the transcripts in tonights BBC news.

No it was Gerrard's mate who elbowed the DJ - the DJ then motioned towards Gerrard who he thought had landed the elbow, and Gerrard was unaware of stray elbow so thought that DJ was about to launch attack and hence used his 'boxing skills' to defend himself.

> Re: Danny Fox

Mick sorry to disappoint but Coventry are no longer in the Premiership... but the boy does have some pedigree as he previously plyed his trade in the Scottish Second Division for Stranraer

Yes very funny Matt, Can I remind you that Alan Hansen played for Partick, Dalglish for the Bhoys and your great teams of the past were based on Scottish management and backbone, so don't knock Stranrear.

I have donemy own research and Danny Fox was picked on the Championship team of the season in the left back position so probably better than some premiership teams.

I know Coventry are not in the premiership Matt, thanks again. I was talking about players choosing Cletic ahead of permiership clubs, and Fox reportedly had interest from premiership clubs, but he is obviously an intelligent chap, who does not mind the cold.

You sound almost proud Matt.

Atila, we won't be chanting Argentina, we'll be chanting Celtic if MM's prediction comes true in a few weeks. Can't wait!

Neither can I, like I said before big fish small pond and a waste of a place in the Champs League. Bring em om, it'll be funny to see them crying after we show how to play the beautiful game and send home crying into their super strength lager. Nearly as funny as watcthing fat geordies with no shirts crying on the terraces when the realisation that they've been relegated kicks in. Bring em on, let's see if you're anywhere near as good as you think (deluded) you are.

Methinks if it had been a Utd player the 'theatre reviewer' in Matthew would've resurfaced with the usual dispicable thug comments thrown in...

    • Andy is an absolute star. Have used him for years and he’s become a hugely trusted and valued friend as well as handyman. Always willing to go the extra mile and doesn’t cut corners, but great on pricing. Can’t recommend enough.
    • Surely you are still covered under these circumstances even if you don't have the physical licence? I can't believe you would be prevented from driving? That would be a ridiculous system. I don't recall any delays   when mine was renewed. Why would their medical department be involved if you have no medical issues? Could someone have made some admin mistake somewhere along the line?
    • Does anyone have the same problem.  I am 79 and have sent my licence renewal form to the DVLA on the 21st October 20 which they have received. I have just received a letter from them them dated 22 December 2025 today saying my licence is with their Drivers Medal Department and will be processed as soon as possible. This follows my telephone call to them after three weeks  from the October date as I had not received my licence back as per their time frame. I also followed this up mid December after finally getting through but did not get any confirmation as to what the situation was. Is this normal practice? On the 7 January 2026 I will be unable to drive as my licence has not been sent back. I have no medical issues and meet all the requirements with no problem as per previous renewals in fact nothing has changed health wise.Their the letter states if they need any more details from me, they will contact me directly. Why has it taken 2 and a half months get get this far? Is this some sort of ploy to get older drivers to finally give up their driving by making life difficult as possible.  Has anyone else experienced this. Read Medical not Medal.
    • You're being a little disingenuous here. It is simply not true that "the area should remain suburban 2/3 storeys maximum" because: -> the area the development is in isn't 2/3 storeys maximum today - as evidenced by the school on the lot adjoining the development to the south, as well as the similarly-sized buildings to the north and east.  -> the SPG doesn't preclude this type of development anyway. This "genie in a bottle" stuff is desperate barrel-scraping. Now you're raising the spectre of a 9 storey building on the Gibbs & Dandy site (the chance would be a fine thing) but also arguing Southwark is too slow to approve things and opposed to development more than 2-3 storeys!
