Absolutely spot on Cowboy

Evening of the new season, everyone level top, confidence yet to be dented, ahhh...

It's the first set of August midweek fixtures that have always been my favourite though - the balmy summer evening under the floodlights is usually the real indication for me of the season ahead

I think that may be the reason that it was simply ignored.

Blackburn midfielder David Dunn has warned big-spending Manchester City that Rovers will "kick lumps" out of their star players on Saturday.

City, who have spent almost ?100m on players this summer, begin their Premier League campaign at Ewood Park.

"It's important we do our best and kick lumps out of them - fairly of course," Dunn said.

"We must be strong and organised. The main thing is we will have to be really aggressive and knock them about a bit."

He added: "That's what the manager will be asking from our lads. We have to make Ewood Park a place no-one wants to come to again.

And who is the manager of this odious Prem Team, why none other than the odious Allarddyce, this just about sums the twat up and reinforces everything I ever felt about him and his "management" style.

Whilst I normally defend the right of any team to do whatever it takes to win, I too hate "Big Sam", so I'm with you on this one!

I still say though, if I was in the ring with a great boxer, I'd not give a toss about making him look good, I'd be holding on, and fighting dirty!

and oi keef, no! West stand is bigger than anything at Anfield, awight!!!

Mockney - thanks for the suggestion that Birmingham can bore the whole of Old Trafford into a coma. I am as biased as they come in these matters and can't even dream of it happening. Rio will gift us a goal though....

I think you know where I stand on this issue. I've long advocated that the beautiful game be played with artistry, skill and technique. Physicality over ability and skill to me is anathema, and is the root cause of why there are so few good English players in the Prem and why our International standing has slipped. My son who is now nearly 19 remembers vividly being coached by a guy when he first started playing at the age of 6, whose idea of playing the game well was to lump the ball up to the biggest kid on the pitch who was made Centre Forward purely on the basis of his physique. The excuse trotted out by pundits and so called expeerts that the dearth of good English players should be attributed purley to the influx of foreign players is hooey in my opinion, and is exactly that, a poor excuse.

No probs, more noticing that Man U have recently faltered very early on, say losing two games in the first month, people write them out of the championship and then they go and win it.

I predicted them regardless over the last three seasons. I've a feeling Chelsea will do it this time, but it's just a hunch as we've yet to really see how they operate under ancelotti, if they'd kept Guus I reckon they'd have been a shoe in. But I wouldn't be the first to underestimate united in recent years would I.

Just had a cold call from Sky... and so there we have it I've now signed up to ESPN..

MY prediction is that Man City will deliver the goods and break into top 4. Sooner or later they'll click into gear as they do have a strong team - the forward play of Robinho, Tevez, Adebayor and SWP will be hard to stop. As for Champions it'll be between Liverpool and Chelsea.

    • What was he doing on the stage at Glastonbury? Or on the stage at the other concert in Finsbury Park? Grinning like a Cheshire cat whilst pissed and stoned 20 somethings on the promise of free internet sung-- Oh Jeremy Corbyn---  What were his policies for Northern mining towns with no jobs or infrastructure? Free Internet and university places for youngsters. What were his other manifesto pledges? Why all the ambiguity over Brexit?  I didn't like Thatcher, Blair or May or Tony but I respected them as politicians because they stood by what they believed in. I respect all politicians across the board that stick to their principles. Corbyn didn't and its why he got  annihilated at the polls. A socialist, anti imperialist and anti capitalist that said he voted for an imperialist and pro capitalist cabal. He refused to say how he'd vote over and over again until the last knockings. He did so to appease the Islington elite and middle class students he was courting. The same people that were screaming that Brexit was racist. At the same time the EU were holding black and Asian immigrants in refugee camps overseas but not a word on that! Corbyn created and courted a student union protest movement that screamed at and shouted down anyone not on the left . They claimed Starmer and the centre right of labour were tories. He didn't get elected  because he, his movement and policies were unelectable, twice. He turned out not to have the convictions of his politics and died on his own sword.    Reform won't win an election. All the idiots that voted for them to keep out Labour actually enabled Labour. They'll be back voting tory next time.    Farage wouldn't be able to make his millions if he was in power. He's a very devious shyster but I very much doubt he'd actually want the responsibility that governance requires.
    • The purge of hard left members that were part of Corbyn's, Mcdonnel's and Lansmans momentum that purged the party of right wing and centrist members. That's politics. It's what Blair did to win, its what Starmer had to do to win. This country doesn't vote in extreme left or right governments. That's partly why Corbyn lost  We're pretty much a centrist bunch.  It doesn't make it false either. It's an opinion based on the voting patterns, demography and statistics. Can you explain then why former mining constituencies that despise the tories voted for them or abstained rather than vote for Corbyns Labour?  What is the truth then? But he never got elected!!! Why? He should have been binned off there and then. Why he was allowed to hang about is an outrage. I hold him party responsible for the shit show that we've had to endure since.
    • Depends on what the Barista says doesnt it? There was no physical confrontation with the driver, OP thinks she is being targetted when she isnt. These guys work min wage under strict schedules so give them a break unless they damage your stuff
    • CPR Dave, attendance records are available on Southwark's website. Maggie Browning has attended 100% of meetings. Jon Hartley has attended 65%.
