Hi,

I am the poster taking toys to Africa. As previously mentioned I work for BA and visit Nairobi semi frequently. We donate to several projects run by an Irish nun. All extremely worthwhile as the donations are going directly to the kids that need them.

Happy to accept any clothes, toys, shoes, pencils anyone wishes to donate. It would be really helpful if any donations can be in the zippered laundry bags as these can be checked into the hold.

Thx

JM

Hi JM

How can I get toys to you?

Thanks

Laur

Hope your toys can go to good use JM.

I took some toys/puzzles/skates into a local charity shop yesterday and was told couldn't take them due to health and safety reasons. They didn't want to even look at them.

A poor Dad just behind me came in with a big bag of toys but was told the same thing. Luckily I had a car to put my things back in but this poor Dad had to carry his stuff home probably.

I know what you mean. I have previously taken kids toys to charity shops and often, quite rudely, are told they are not wanted.

The great thing about the relationship BA has with this orphanage project is that the donations go directly to the kids. Nothing gets lost in admin costs etc. I love the idea as I feel the stuff goes where it is most needed. I am slowly building up quite a mountain of stuff but happy to accept any more donations.

    • Warning to parents using the playground in Dulwich Park. My daughter and her friends found a bag of ‘crunchy powder’ in the children’s playground this morning around 11ish. They thought it was ‘popping candy’ and all tried some before seen with it. Request to parents using the playground - if you see plastics bags with suspect looking contents or powder on the floor in the playground or park: pick it up and throw it in the bin. Don’t walk past and think someone else will deal with it. The next person to walk by might be a child who could pick it up not understanding what it could be. Hopefully our daughter and her friends will be ok and it’s a lucky escape. But please be aware in case anyone else’s child may have found it before them.
    • I’m looking for some ply sheets, ideally 9mm or 12mm. It doesn’t have to look good. As long as it’s not rotten it’ll be fine. I’d like bigger sheets, but I’m open to whatever anyone’s got. If you can help, drop me a DM.  Cheers
    • the only known name is from that poster in the window where it says to email [email protected]. I thought that website might shed some light on who is creating the posters I hope whoever was attacked is doing ok, but agree there is something very off/vigilante-ish about all of this
    • Sorry to be dim, but where has that link come from and why is it relevant to this thread? I'm not doubting you, just wondering if I've missed something above!
