Places that make you slightly tense...

- East Croydon station

- Ikea

- Any brightly lit chain store with loud radio 1 music playing...Westfield...Oxford St.

The point being these places are all innocuous. The Chinese concept of Feng Shui almost starts to explore it. An ill combination of things...but try as you might it's hard to avoid East Croydon...

Behave. These are people not places. I'm talking about the gnawing fear and loathing that grips me every time I have to change at East Croydon station. And want to know whether others suffer from this affliction and if so why.

The only thing I dislike about East Croydon is getting off the train and not knowing which platform gets me to Gatwick the quickest.

As for Ikea, I hate it. Last time I sat in the car. When I did venture in I tried to keep my wife on the yellow brick road as I figured it was the quickest way out of there. It never worked.

BUT...I happen to like the footbridge at Clapham Junction station as it's the spacious above ground slightly more low key cousin of the claustrophobic, cess pit of a tunnel to the main entrance.

Unsure if we are just responding to the title or also need there to be no apparent reason.

But if the former then clearly the platform at Peckham Rye (is it #3?) that goes to Victoria etc. in anticipation of the physical struggle to get on, and the inevitable need to again convince someone that they really will be able to steady themselves using a seat top instead of the bar and so could they please move down and begin to occupy the 4 person space beyond them.
