Very special person with police escort on Lordship Lane..

A police RANGE ROVER flanked by 5 or 6 bikes has just come down Lordship Lane (literally about 60 seconds ago, past the old Grove pub). One of the bike escorts had a whistle and he was using this to stop the flow of traffic to allow the Range Rover and it's entourage through.

Any ideas who this could've been?!

If the Range Rover was a liveried Met vehicle, then it will have been the Special Escort Group (SEG) on a training run

They whizz ahead and dominate the junctions with furious whistling and hand signals

I think the idea is that the wheels of the principals vehicle do not stop rolling

It was a kind of dark browny coloured one with an LED sign in that back that said CAUTION POLICE .. if that helps

I saw it going past the Nag's Head in Peckham. It could have been someone as inconsequential as the Duke of Gloucester. Even twats like him get that treatment.

Almost no one gets that treatment now actually. If it was just the police vehicle and nothing else, then it's very unlikely any VIP was involved.

I saw it going down Barry Road towards Peckham Rye at about 2.40. There were 2 bikes ahead of it with lights and sirens and a bike immediately in front of it
