So last night consisted of a game of Tantrix with Mogs, Mr Mogs and me (which Mogs won - looping for the first time I've witnessed)!

Ally Cat and Floating Onion joined us during that, then Mr Mogs went home (all that tantric stuff did him in clearly)!

Then there were 2 games of Articulate where the boys won both games.

Next Wednesday anyone?

You land on a category (object, people, action, place and a couple of others), and then have to try and describe as many of that category as you can in the alloted time. The egg timer goes very quickly, so you don't get through that many cards each go.

Also, like in Pictionary, you have "All Plays", where one person describes, but anyone from any team can guess and take control of the game.

It a great laugh, especially when drunk and/or stoned!

Sunday 4pm at The Plough

The following Games can be made available

Super Scrabble 4+ Players Required

Normal Scrabble 2+ Players Required

Party Scrabble 2+ Players Required, for people who like a fast crazy game

Articulate 4+ Players

Tantrix 2 - 4 Players

We normally find ourselves in the garden on the Blue Sofas

PM me information that you are coming and what game you would prefer to play as this will help me organise.

And don't forget we go onto the MAG for their quiz by 7:00 so if you can't make the games try and make the quiz ?500 Cash Prize this week.

We have visitors who probably won't want to come and play so if you need your Party version then you'll need to come and pick it up or give me a call and I'll meet you somewhere convenient! You're welcome to keep Articulate for as long as until I want it back!!

You can tell Mr Mogs that the "official" Articulate rules are here: http://www.drumondpark.com/rules/articulate.php But not as much fun as our house rules IMHO!

I'd also recommend Spit It Out but I don't have it - yet! It from the same people that made/distribute Articulate. The rules are (worringly) in their "Rules Archive" (http://www.drumondpark.com/rules/spititout.php) which kind of implied the game is no longer available but a little interweb research suggests it's now called "Don't Panic" and involves a Party Scrabble-type timer rather than a spinner.

This is all very useful and will let Mr. Mogs know about this website. And you will be missed today. I'm not sure if anyone is available yet, I will start the texting in a minute.

    • People working in shops should not be "attempting to do the bill in their head." Nor if questioned should they be  trying to "get to an agreeable number." They should be actually (not trying to) getting to the correct number. I'm afraid in many cases it is clearly more than incorrect arithmetic. One New Year's Eve in a restaurant (not in East Dulwich but quite near it) two of us were charged for thirty poppadoms. We were quite merry when the bill came, but not so merry as to not notice something amiss. Unfortunately we have had similar things happen in a well established East Dulwich restaurant we no longer use. There is also a shop in East Dulwich which is open late at night. It used not to display prices on its goods (that may have changed). On querying the bill, we several times found a mistake had been made. Once we were charged twice for the same goods. There is a limit to how many times you can accept a "mistake".  There is also a limit to how many times you can accept the "friendly" sweet talking after it.
    • Adapted not forced.  As have numerous species around the world.  Sort of thing that Attenborough features.  Domestic dogs another good example - hung around communities for food and then we become the leader of the pack.  Not sure how long it will take foxes to domesticate, but some will be well on their way.    Raccoons also on the way https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c1j8j48e5z2o
    • My memory, admittedly not very reliable these days, places the shop on the block on the left hand side just before Burgess Park going towards Camberwell. Have also found a reference to Franklins Antiques being located at 157 Camberwell Road which is on that block. This is a screen shot obtained from Google maps of that address which accords with my memory except the entrance door was on the right hand side, where the grey door is, rather than in the centre.
    • The MFI was probably where Iceland is now. This post makes me feel very old - went to a 30th birthday party in the garden at the back. Oh to be 30 again!
