"No flounce I've seen just some preconceived idaes about a poster is effecting the tone here."

you are sticking with this line of argument - what is the "preconceived" bit?

I seem to recall that most of the posts about RPc were more praising than damning. so please rather than ambiguous, cloaked reference, can you spell out what exactly was wrong?

very good ;)

Erm, how can they be preconceived ideas?

If you only know a poster, not their RL counterpart, then you can only have ideas about a poster based on their posting, in other words they're conceived ideas.

I find RPC both condescending and unpleasant Others find her interesting. Different strokes for etc... I'm sure she's lovely in real life, but that's my opinion based on my reading. You can call that holier than thou but I've never claimed to be anything other than a grumpy old man, I'm pretty sure there are loads on here who find me unpleasant. I make no apologies for my opions, take em or leave them and I stand by them.

The only people who have ever got under _my_ skin are the ones I genuinely care about; the odd spat with otta or *bob* and his ?2.99 aiwa stereo mono ;)

It's funny how it's usually the more abrasive posters with the thinnest skins.

This. I've never knowingly met anyone from the EDF, so whatever opinion I might have about someone is based purely on what they post on here. To me it's irrelevaent if someone is 'solid' or 'lovely' in real life. If they post like an arse I'll conceive them to be an arse...

It's not a court of law sheriff. BUT scroll up. people, all who are long term regulars, discussing a posters style as if they are in a private conversation... Cliquey IMO.... + where's the flounce? Poor old RPC just hasn't posted for a few days no "Foook you fooKers" type thing.

I just think that RPC came across as not having much sympathy or liking for fellow posters in some of the things she said. Not all the time but enough to receive the comments from others.

Personally, I prefer to think before I write.

There are a number of people on here who I would feel uncomfortable raising my voice at or being rude to..........

because I have too much respect for them.

I agree there was no flounce but I disagree the conversation was as if it was a private conversation. I was expecting RPC to comment back. She chose not to and fair enough. The fact that the conversation was out in the open is surely a good thing. People weren't and aren't shy talking about me as if I wasn't here from time to time either. That's ok

No one is claiming this is a court of law either - but if you will accuse someone they are apt to reply and maybe even disagr to surely?

Far too much talk and discussion in this thread and other threads about other EDF members

by people who either don't know them or have never met them.

What gives anyone here the Devine right to pass judgement on other EDF members.

I strongly suspect there are people out there who's ears will be burning.

Foxy - may I use you as an example?

We have 4487 posts from you. By your logic you are suggesting that none of them give any clue as to who you are i.e. you, your character, the real fox, the man behind the fur?

If you're completely different in meat space then its been a long and slightly bizzare act. If it's a fair reflection...then well it is perhaps reasonable to assume that you're the kind of chap who welcomes free olives?

Totally agree with this when it comes to posters I've never met.

Absolutely DF. I'm not getting involved. If be the first one to be told to shut up for criticising other members but it's ok to do it for some apparently.

This forum has taken a paranoid twist with in-fighting and back biting. For someone new to this forum, God knows what they would think.

Louisa.

You know him so well!

Not remotely about passing judgement on others, more about commenting on a poster's (note "poster" not "person") manner on this forum.

No matter how annoying, self righteous or sanctimonious people can get on here you should never leave. It's only a matter of time before another twat on a stag takes a dump on the floor in the pub or a load of bags of ash appear on our streets and when that happens this is the place to be. Remember when that person bought an avocado from Sainsburys?

I really do not get your angle....

I was at El Pebe's leaving do where I met many people and they in consequence met me.

I'm a regular at the Curry Club so people there know me.

I'm out every night but strangely there are very few Forumites I have met whilst out and about

despite being a so called 'Social Butterfly'

I do not hide behind my Computer Terminal as has been suggested in the past.

PS. I do not much like Olives. Even Free ones.

I did not say Mr Ben suggested I hid behind my Computer, I said it had been suggested in the past..

I've even posted my photo in the past few weeks...

Most of the people I have met with many more posts more than myself are very different than the way

they come across here.. They are mostly reluctant to talk about anything when you actually meet them

without having someone close to hand to back them up.

It is worth noting that 60% - 75% of my posts are of a technical nature offering help and advice.

People asking for help with local amenities..

Also posts offering items that people have requested either free or for a small fee.

Curry club posts..

The regular set are not often seen in those areas...

Very few posts concerning other posters unless in response to personal attack.

    • Thank you for the feedback! Helps to see we're not alone. The only good experience we had was Modern House. Anyone tried Strike/Purple Bricks/Yopa? How did it go? Anything to be mindful of?
    • Best experience we had was with Modern House. The rest of the agents around the area are appalling.... They just want their commission and not interested in getting a good deal. You'd be lucky if they pick up the phone...
    • I’d like to echo the positive comments about Trelco. I discovered that the stopcock on the rising main was leaking and was damaging the flooring in the utility room. Not having seen this thread, or any reviews for that matter,  I picked Trelco  as it was the nearest to me. It was a gamble but goodness it paid off. James was responsive and clear in what he offered. His colleague Andy replaced the offending stopcock and put in a lever valve to allow me to shut off the water easily when I go away. He did a great job, neat and tidy, he was cheerful, friendly and professional. All this within a day of contacting them. Although not an emergency it needed resolution quickly. The price charged was very reasonable indeed, especially considering the quality of the service. I am so pleased to have found such an excellent plumber.
    • Hi Kate I have 3 medium to large good quality cardboard  boxes for you if you want them and some green bubble wrap to go with them. I live SE15 3AY near Harris Girls school and in all day if you want to collect today or weekend OK too. WhatsApp me on 07538164536 Paddy
