Which is exactly why one should judge posts but not presume to judge the person posting.

"Most of the people I have met with many more posts more than myself are very different than the way

they come across here.. They are mostly reluctant to talk about anything when you actually meet them

without having someone close to hand to back them up. "

Foxy. It's entirely possible that people aren't being different to "on here" so much as they are often different with other people.

You've done your bit, Foxy.

It's time these people learned to stand on their own to feet - and google stuff on Wikipedia for themselves.

Most of the techy stuff I post about I know about.. It was my job..

I almost always give a link to the source where people can read for themselves and learn more.

After all it is usually people who have asked for some direction that I reply to.

Its in my nature to help other people... That's what I do... You should try it sometime.

And a SASO Systems Administration and Security Officer.

I don't recall posting About Gardening, I hate gardening.

Or Accountancy , or Aviation, or Astronautics.. ?

Or exaggerating for that matter..

DulwichFox

I had to go back to May 2013 to find that Thread on Bamboo..

I'll let you look for it..

I think I said in that post I was a useless gardener ad everything I try and grow dies... :)

Well nothing has changed. I'm still waiting for my Chilli seeds to germinate and show their heads,

"I just think that RPC came across as not having much sympathy or liking for fellow posters in some of the things she said. Not all the time but enough to receive the comments from others.

Personally, I prefer to think before I write."

Perhaps.

I saw some really nasty posts a few days ago but when you see that sort of thing you have to assume it's just a bad day they're having, especially when it's pure hate with no logic.

First and most importantly, a BIG thank you to lovely Salsa for your kindness, and also to everyone else who has been supportive or tried to remain neutral. I really appreciate it.

I haven?t been on the forum since Tuesday, though it may not have appeared that way as my laptop and phone log me in automatically. Busy with a truckload of other stuff at the moment, not least family problems and a new job. Once I saw Otta?s original post and the aftermath I also wanted to pause and think before replying.

Otta, I don?t know if you realise that you haven?t actually addressed any comments to me personally? I don?t know if you?re interested in my point of view or just wanted to relieve your own feelings. My guess is the latter as you criticised me harshly on a public forum in the third person, effectively inviting other people to join in. You said you intended it to be a PM rather than a public post, but you haven?t deleted it ? in fact you?ve repeatedly defended it ? so I get that you did/do mean it. Your apologies, such as they are, seem to be directed at your friends rather than me. El Pibe?s rather snide comments certainly seem to be aimed at making you feel better.

It?s fair comment that some of my posts have been critical and impatient recently. I?ve certainly felt bored and frustrated with the forum in recent months: big real-life stuff is taking up all my energy and at times some people seem incredibly self-involved here. Maybe that just means I?m ready for a(nother) break.

To pick up on one point, bit unfair to blame me for Alan Medic?s departure. We did have a brief spat when I thought he was accusing me of something he didn?t intend, but it was done and dusted in three posts. I thought the trigger for him was the Curry Club thread but I?m sure he can speak for himself when he?s ready.

And ?pure hate? is a very extreme accusation, KK ? did you really mean that?

You?re entitled to your opinions about me and what I say, but I?d respect them - and you - more if you said them to me directly. Maybe you?re right and some people do send each other nasty PMs about other forumites. I don?t know: I never have and I?ve never received any either. I?ve supported a few people who I thought were being attacked unfairly, though, as I know what it?s like, having left the forum in the past after a particularly vicious one.

In other words ? yet another passive-aggressive, ganging-up-in-the-playground bloodletting by members of the clique and hangers-on. Welcome to another week in the Lounge.

For anyone not familiar with the term ?flouncing?, it?s used by the more bullying-prone cliquey types to diminish other people?s hurt reactions after upsetting them to the point where they feel they can?t stay.

So that's my response if anyone wanted one. I'm not particularly interested in dissecting this further, but knock yourselves out if that's your idea of fun.

No, I'm not, MrBen. My original ID that dated from, I think, early 2008 was deleted when I left so I had to choose a new name when I came back a couple of years after that, but I've never been more than one person at once. I remember Giggirl. And Moos.

Just for the record, I haven't deleted the original post because by the time I realised it was in the public domain rather than someone's inbox (about an hour after posting it) someone had already quoted it so deleting seemed pointless. I also didn't want to be accused of trying to "cover up" after the event. I haven't defended it, I have just said I'd be a hypocrite if I tried to take it all back.

But my apology for causing any upset was meant for you, not sure how I've apologised to anyone else.

As I've said, I don't know you, I have nothing against you as a person, you could be the most wonderful person alive or you could be the opposite, I have no idea.

Any comment I have made has been solely based on stuff you've written on here.

I'm sorry to hear that you've had stuff going on in RL, and I'm the first to admit that I've been pretty venomous on here in the past when things have been shit in the other world.

I still find the whole cliquey ganging up thing laughable, but I.understand others see it differently.

For what it's worth though (and this is directed to Quids) when UDT was around I couldn't post on any thread in any section of the forum without him following me there and trying to start, so I have a 100% clear conscience about anything I ever said to him. He was a prick.

There are more characters making comebacks on here than in EastEnders - maybe we should have a 'live' week building to a crescendo of ennui so we can all find out who killed X-X*

*Fill-in-name-of-forumite-who-has-gone-missing-over-the-last-few-years-and-who-may-or-may-not-have-come-back-and-possibly-more-than-once-in-another-guise-and-possibly-fecked-off-again-or-been-deleted-and-come-back-again-and-then-disappeared-for-a-while-then-come-back-and-well-you-get-the-idea

Good to see you back and responding RPC.

The difference between you and me is that I actually have feelings for some of my fellow forumites. I see them as friends, just by interacting on here, whether I've met them or not.

Therefore I think before I write because I don't want to offend or hurt any of them with a post.

Sometimes your posts make me cringe because they are so cold and don't contain any feeling at all.

I've nothing against you personally. Just being honest.

    • Given her role, she pretty much had to go. I don't think she is an avid tax-schemer who deliberately set out to avoid tax - I do pretty much believe her story of multiple high-profile roles and looking after a child with needs. But many regular voters juggle demanding jobs and families and are afforded no leeway by taxman, so she totally should have known better But here we are - she was found to be negligent and now she has suffered teh consequence. To me that its the OPPOSITE of all parties/politicians as generally the ignore the whole thing (today we have Tice saying Farage's tax affairs are of no interest to voters for example) And it would be poor form to not acknowledge why she was targeted quite so viciously - we even have posters on here here saying "when I saw her taping on a boat that was the  end for me" - like the end of what?. Her gender and class were clear motivators for many people. Two wrongs don't make a right - but it';s interesting to see some posters on here give so many others a blank cheque. Many are planning to vote for Farage despite his dishonesty being 100x worse than Rayner PS - I don't think she will join Corbyn party - unlike him she is smart and unlike him she recognises that being In power means you can at least stand a chance of delivering results This. The Greens will have a rise in the polls on back of new leader but that is one hell of a coalition of NIMBY/YIMBYs As what would Reform do if in government to help with... well, anything?   Labour can at least point to decreasing waiting lists, lower immigration numbers, not having a different PM every 6 months - not that anyone is listening
    • So what do people want?  More housing.  More affordable housing.  But not in my back yard. That applies to urban areas too.  Easy to criticise, but where are your answers?
    • this doesn't mean anything - it's a word salad with no reference to the topic at hand. And given the video I posted it's notable that you didn't reference it at all. The subject is the proliferation of weird intimidating Flag wavers....    As for me, I didn't vote Labour at last election, nor will I in next election (if I lived in a Labour/Tory/Reform marginal, that might be different)
    • Her legacy will be the Deputy leader/Housing Secretary who was the Labour party's sleaze crime fighter who broke the ministerial code for not paying enough stamp duty on one of her houses. As Housing Secretary she probably should have known better.    I wonder if she will defect to Corbyn where she will no doubt be welcomed with open arms and the words: "You did nothing wrong, it was all a media conspiracy comrade......"
