some people simply are more sensitive to insult than others, and there's no reason why their feelings should be less important than yours.

This is the big problem, of course these people's feelings are just as important as everyone else's, but at the same time, it saddens me that people have to feel censored.

I think BBW has been a bit out of line once or twice, but I just get so scared of living in a world where people can't speak freely for fear of offending. A bit extreme perhaps, but it's not a huge leap from one to the other.

What is the old saying, something like "I may not agree with what you say, but I'll fight to the death for your right to say it". (sure that's badly quoted), such an important thing!

Censorship / freedom of speech have always been political hot potatoes - it's not a road I want to see the forum going down.

A lot of it is common sense though isn't it (otherwise known as self-censorship)? One golden rule for me is to not hide behind the anonyminity of the keyboard i.e. don?t post something that I wouldn?t be prepared to say to someone?s face.

Some of the things I?ve seen here on recent weeks (albeit the last few weeks have been mad) have just been rude. They don?t need censoring ? just some basic good manners.

Yes GG but you are dealing with builders and other such individuals, If you ever had the misfortune to sit in a site hut at tea break you would know where I am coming from. My father was a site agent for 20 years and I used to work with him during the school holidays. The conclusion that I made from that experience was ****AVOID**** that vocation like the plague.

What giggirl said.

And....I was very irritated by some of your posts BBW because you were clearly having go and being rude and obnoxious on a personal level and you wouldn't have dreamed of speaking to someone like that face to face and it really annoyed me. As for your craving for attention I find it very sad.

I'm all for a bit of banter and a sense of humour but what you might find funny other people clearly dont. Behave, be nice and we can all get along.

Big Bad Wolf? I don't think so. More like the The Boy Who Cried Wolf.

Don't worry Giggirl. I'm getting back in my box now and Jah is going to nail it shut.

    • Another recommendation for Greg at Raven Plumbing and Heating. We found a leak at around 2pm, found this thread on EDF so gave Greg a shot and he arrived at 4pm and all (four!) leaks fixed by 5pm. When it’s an emergency, you worry you’ll be taken advantage of financially, but reasonable pricing and Greg gets the job done without any fuss. Thank you!! 07955656941 [email protected]
    • Been a while but it still looks abandoned. Does anyone know what is going to be there?
    • I would ask a solicitor. You may be able to claim compensation. You can speak to Lease free for 15 minutes ( very worthwhile), and a no win no fee Sol.
    • I am no expert by any means, but I wonder first if Foxtons belong to any kind of professional (I use the term loosely) body you could complain to, and second, if you have any grounds to take them to the small claims court. I am surprised and sorry that none of the people you have asked for help could actually help. To be fair, though, re the oven, they have offered to reimburse you for an air fryer, it is the weekend so probably difficult to get someone out to look at it,  and they seem to be addressing that problem at least pretty promptly? Do you have a grill and hob and kettle working OK? Also, is it not the owner's responsibility to address issues such as the mould and the bath?  Shouldn't Foxtons be liaising with them about this?  Oh, and this is not intended to be a joke - try asking ChatGPT (or similar) what you can do. It saves hours of googling  stuff online yourself.
