So... apparently the council can remove the blue paint to reveal the mural underneath easily(http://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/forum/read.php?5,169941,page=5).

However, the blue paint is still there. Anyone have any idea what is going on or have the council just fobbed off the people that they're accountable too?

xxxxxxx

Anybody else not sure what this was about, or is it just me?

:-$

mmmmmm their subsequent lack of accountability, yes how right you are. It's has a funny effect when people like to pretend they are accountable but deep down they know they are not. The mechanisms to hold them to account are never simple and it always takes a huge effort and lot of time to make it happen, voting a government out etc is not a simple thing, and the odds and tools favor the people who have the power. It would be nice to have a mechanism to really keep the pressure up on public servants and companies who work for and are funded by the tax payer, that really does this. Those public commitee's that blair introduced are a little step in the right direction, but are used often only to placate us through the media. for example; "lets call the bankers in and tell them off" then watch them sail away smiling off camera and away from the public glare.

I have skimmed through the previous thread on this subject, and I can't see a contact number or link to Mr Rose who seems to be the one who was dealing with it - does anybody have this info?

I am happy to chase to find out what is happening, but I don't have time at the moment to seek out the contact details.

I've just been shown the notes from the Friends of Goose Green AGM that was held in the Goose Green Community Centre yesterday evening.

A new design has been commisioned from Stan Peskett, the artist, on the same theme as the original mural. The plan is to involve local children in producing the mural, in the same way that they were involved in the original painting.

The mural will be launched as part of the Dulwich Festival in May.

    • Dishing the dirt is generally fine when it comes to politicians and in Farage's case he often deserves it but  nothing illegal  has been done. It is not illegal for him to give his partner a sizeable amount of money with which to buy a house and have it registered in her name. He is 64 years old and his partner is 16 years younger and so he most likely is making plans to minimise IHT. There is a sliding scale for IHT but basically a gift is free of IHT if the gift is made 7 years before the donor dies. Farage is 64 years old and his partner is 16 years younger. In 7 years time, if he lives that long, he will be 71 years old. Given that he smokes like a chimney and drinks like a fish, his odds on getting beyond 71  years may be pretty slim.  A similar  process is followed by the "bank of mum and dad"  where parents  give money to their kids to fund purchase of a property. Many who are not cash rich will mortgage their home and so release equity to fund their kids property. We did it as have many of our friends.
