You will always be able to charge more simply by printing the Menu In French or Italian.

It's purely psychological that tricks the diner into thinking they are getting something

a bit more exotic and worth paying a little extra for.

Insulata Mista [verde] -- Mixed green salad.

Right. Get it. Like with curry houses when they use the words 'murgh' and 'gosht'. Etc.

NO not at all. Most Indian menu items / words are not translatable directly into English.

From Urdu murġ, from Persian murġ 'bird, fowl'.

So a Chicken Murgh would be Chicken Bird Curry. Does not really make sense .

Most curry lovers know what the terms mean.

Whereas the word 'insalata', of course, will leave Italian food aficianados scratching their heads.

That was my very point ?

We all know what Insalata means .. It can be directly represented / translated into English and therefore does

not need to be in Italian. unlike Murgh. (your example)

For Fox Sake...

Nope, you've lost me. Sorry. The next time I order a murgh vindaloo, I won't be getting chicken?

How can I be Wrong. Its just my opinion.

I watched a TV prog. recently about how the same technique is used on Supermarket Packaging

to enhance their products and make them more appealing.

Can see why every one is having a dig a Foxy with Louisa now keeping a low profile.

You must all be suffering with withdrawal symptoms. :) :) :)

Well Foxy, you do actually have a certain reputation for backing yourself into tight situations.

    • I've just had notification, as a customer, that EE are doing work in Honor Oak on Tuesday 16th (next Tuesday). This will also impact anyone with a virtual mobile operator who uses EE as their underlying operator. Just a heads up that service may be problematical then.
    • Just seen the limping fox in my garden in North Cross Road. Didn't stay for long but looks alert, curious, lively, in good condition, apart from limp very healthy. Of course, having the an injured limb is not ideal but I wonder if stressing him/her by trying to catch it, which will be very difficult, is the best course of action.
    • It’s illegal to let off fireworks in a public place, there were kids in Peckham Rye Park wearing hoods & masks letting off fireworks around 5pm yesterday & generally acting menacing..  loads of people walking dogs at the time along with families & kids using the park!  I reported to the police but as usual nobody turned up! Suggest anyone who is fed up with this antisocial behaviour make sure it’s reported, the more reports the better, hopefully then something will be done.   At the moment they just know they can get away with it!
