drink a big glass of milk, the fat in it will absorb some of the caffeine and settle you down a bit...

not based on anything in particular but instinct

I have been there big time, years ago... so I sympathise

I don't drink coffee any more

deep breaths and it will pass

xxcc

I'm not fainting, but dizzy and highly nauseous, heart going three hundred miles an hour, a cold clammy sweat on (oh and yes, seemingly all colour drained from my face).

Not wholly unlike the whiteys I sometimes had in my class A youth. Only that was a long time ago now and I can't quite remember what I did to get out of them.

Feel bad but need to try to get some more work done - figured there may be a few people on here who have dealt with this more recently than me. Holy cr@p, am a complete lightweight these days.

Thanks CharlieCharlie - cross posted - I'm getting the milk right now.

Cough hard, several times, that helps the heart realign. Also trying to dry retch, has similar effect.

Breath in slowly to a count of seven, hold for a count of seven and release slowly to a count of seven. Do this several times and it will help you calm down. (This is the same as breathing into a paper bag)

It sounds like a panic attack and this should help.

Not to be alarmist, but if the above has no effect, you should consider phoning NHS Direct on 0245 4647 or look at their symptom checker on www.nhsdirect.nhs.uk

Tell me about it - like I said, I've turned into an utter lightweight. Time was I could neck 5 pills and a couple of grams down the Hac and still get a full night's sleep...

PGC, many thanks - definitely helping.

You must be over it now, if not cram loads of carbs....pasta ect..

Note. Many coffee houses use "Robusta" beans in their blend, Starbucks ect, this is the most vicious caffeine hit, always ask for 100% High Arabica bean when ordering............... softer hit allround

W**F

Heh, Keef, thanks for the suggestion - coming from a night out with MP it means all the more - I think a beer would have been just the thing if only I had had one.

Had a bit of cake and did some breathing and went to bed. Note to self: coffee is not the answer.

Oh and Mikecg, hate to disillusion you but I have rarely been sensible and never been a lady (I think the forum just brings it out in me), and I may have employed the teeniest bit of hyperbolic licence in reference to my nights down the Hac. At least I never burned down my neighbour's house though...

A whitey = all colour draining from face, vision going black, head spinning, collapsing to floor = fainting. In my book anyway. Usually happens if you have a spliff too early in the morning.

Whatever the terminology - I hope you're feeling better this morning Rosie, lay off the coke (snicker).

So this isn?t about how you are going to explain to your husband why an imminent addition to the family is going to have considerably less pigment than him.

Best thing to do if you are freaking out from any stimulant is get in a nice hot bath and drink heavily. Calms you right down.

A whitey ofF coffee! The last whitey I suffered was triggered by a spliff after drinking 4 cans of special brew (breakfast of champions) and half a bottle of Absinthe. My stomach felt as though I'd eaten a packet of rat poison but the sex dreams I had after I passed out made it all worth while.

Have a lie down Rosie.

    • https://www.letslinkuk.net/ I'm interested to know why the OP didn't find this sort of scheme to work, as I would have thought it was much harder to find someone to do a direct exchange with? Does anybody else have experience of a scheme like this? Happy to be persuaded!
    • I personally think is a great idea Bobbly and would love if there was a section for it. I wouldn't offer free gardening under the "for sale" section as I would expect something in exchange and wouldn't expect our cat being looked after for free under the "wanted" section, as an example.

    • I have fond memories of Govinda's I used to go there  back in the 90's (maybe earlier) for an affordable tasty lunch..I was wondering if its still around. Now I have to make a point of going there. Does anyone else remember a really affordable basement cafe run by the church in a street off of Golden Square? parallel to Regent Street? I also used to love the Vegetarian cafe on Neal Street in the basement (Neal Street Cafe?) and there was an inczredible inexpensive authentic Japanese resturant I use to go to with my Japanese friends (who introduced me to it) tucked away behind Long Acre where that brown brick modern building ('modern' I think it went up in the 90's!) now stands that fronts Long Acre and Neal Street..I think it was called Asakasa or something?
