I was in Hope and Greenwood yesterday afternoon:

An attractive girl, perhaps in her late 20s came in with a girlfriend and spotted a bar of "*******" chocolate.

I personally have never even heard of "*******" chocolate, I can't even remember its name, but they seem very impressed with it. it was most likely very expensive.

Girls says to friend - "oh look they have "*******" chocolate!".

Girlfriend says "whaooo!"

Girl 1 starts stroking the bar of chocolate. She looked like she really wanted this chocolate, real bad.

She then dragged herself away from the chocolate and bought a more modest purchase, a small bag of dolly mixtures. On the way out she stopped to stroke the bar of chocolate again, before leaving.

What is it with girls and chocolate?

Annasfield, I get the gist of your post, even though I like chocolate and eat my fair share (Twirl anyone?) I don't quite go into the raptures that some do.

Then you spoil it by mentioning crisps. Crisps rather than chocolate? Have you gone cocoa?

Citizen, I'm with you on Twirls!

I had a friend in my old job, and she genuinely had a thing for chocolate. She was going through some really horrible stuff in her life, and where I probably would've turned to drink, she turne to chocolate, and it genuinely seemed to make her feel better. weird!

You will NEVER understand.

Probably not. I admit it, I don't understand it. I watched Nigella last night and it confirmed my suspicions that there is some sort of drug/chemical reaction that you girls get from cocoa that just does not work for men. There is something of the unknown about it.

Nigella's friend comes round - very upset - unknown man has no doubt mistreated her - Nigella plops lots of homemade chocolatty things in front of her - all is well - everyone is happy again - bad man is forgotton.

Brendan I have a sneak suspicion that we may have been seperated at birth.

    • Ohh dear.  Fireworks can be great fun.  Where I used to live the kids would have firework wars/games.  Watching them was more enjoyable than watching  TV. (Which you could hardly hear due to the pops and bangs).  It's not like anyone/anything could stop them. I would still prefer organised public displays that are affordable.   And I agree that fireworks cause problems for wild life, pets and people.   It seems to be one of those things that just happens so we have to put up with it.  But it is still not as problematic here as in other areas in London - that's for sure.

    • Ugly...maybe..does it bother me..NO! I think its somehow reassuring to see theres still phoneboxes around. East Dulwich may well be getrified but there may well be some elderly people who don't have mobiles and kids who may have lost theirs adults ditto etc etc. I'd rather keep it than lose it...just because i don't use it does'nt mean its not needed.  there are many eyesores in the modern world not all of them as potentially useful.
    • I strongly recommend Balayage salon in Lordship lane as everytime I visit, they make me feel very spicial with thier profisionalism and care.   I have been going there for the last 10 years maybe more, and will never exchange them for any other. They are profisional, welcoming and they also always have an offer. I feel like a new woman every time. X
