Marvellous '(...had a bad day and done a balloon in cold blood yesterday :X (translation available, if required) and then I espy this..how utterly charming...:) sorry, I mean :(

You "suspect" incorrectly Ms Marple.

Are you seriously telling me that if we were work colleagues or (horror of horrors B)) actual neighbours, that you would not be enraptured, enthralled, enchanted and entertained by my enthusiasm and effortless efferescence?

Equally, that I would not, in time, be attracted to your unique style, which has been evident in your contributions to this fine fora, thus far?

I "suspect" that, eventually, we would be more than just good friends and acquaintances, but, alas and alac, that will never happen in this particular lifetime...there's always the next one, though...>:D<

p.s. When I say that I efferesce I do NOT mean that I emit small bubbles of gas on a regular basis....:))

Seriously? you could differentiate between a Wayne "women" and "wimmin"? but that still doesn't explain the crazy apostrophe

In Waynes World Wimmin were Wimmin but you are right there is absolutely no excuse whatsoever for this crazee apostrophe, none whatsoever.

I, unreservedly,apologise Rosie.>:D<

I'm grateful to feminists, please don't take that the wrong way at all, but I do think that it's a see saw - there'll never be true equality. And it the moment, it's in danger of being reversed - I think that women are starting to have more rights than men in some cases. And that's not a good thing either.

Anyway, it's Sunday morning, this is all too deep. I'm off to make my husband's breakfast.....

I agree with Brum and Daizie to some extent - mainly where kids are involved. When I was younger and (only slightly) less foolish, I would put up with all sorts of shenanigans from partners that I would never tolerate from a friend. These days, I am much less tolerant of crap behaviour just because I am in a relationship that I am trying to 'make work'. So simple but it's made me much happier.

I don't have kids though, and I know that it's a whole different story when you've created new people whose needs have to be taken into consideration.

    • thanks Jenijenjen and all - yes, i remember walking or taking the bus from the elephant (where i was working) to Camberwell to get there.  I think Tim - who's still at Franklin's -  was there in those days, and the woman who ran the cafe!  Other food places that i remember fondly are the ones in Neal's Yard (with the Hunkin sculpture that you could put a coin in ) and the basement lunch place at the Tottenham Court Road junction with Hanway Street...
    • Did you try the emergency number posted above? It mentions lift breakdowns over the festive period outside the advertised  times. Hope you got it sorted x
    • People working in shops should not be "attempting to do the bill in their head." Nor if questioned should they be  trying to "get to an agreeable number." They should be actually (not trying to) getting to the correct number. I'm afraid in many cases it is clearly more than incorrect arithmetic. One New Year's Eve in a restaurant (not in East Dulwich but quite near it) two of us were charged for thirty poppadoms. We were quite merry when the bill came, but not so merry as to not notice something amiss. Unfortunately we have had similar things happen in a well established East Dulwich restaurant we no longer use. There is also a shop in East Dulwich which is open late at night. It used not to display prices on its goods (that may have changed). On querying the bill, we several times found a mistake had been made. Once we were charged twice for the same goods. There is a limit to how many times you can accept a "mistake".  There is also a limit to how many times you can accept the "friendly" sweet talking after it.
    • Adapted not forced.  As have numerous species around the world.  Sort of thing that Attenborough features.  Domestic dogs another good example - hung around communities for food and then we become the leader of the pack.  Not sure how long it will take foxes to domesticate, but some will be well on their way.    Raccoons also on the way https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c1j8j48e5z2o
