Why is that then Sue.

Over the years I've been a regular in the Plough where I worked.

A regular in the old Uplands , the Palmy. The Foresters / Bishop

And now the EDT.

I tend to stick with one pub and move on from time to time when things change.

Like partners. Never felt the need for more than one at a time.

Well 200+ people on opening night (free beer)

Been back a few times since and there were 4 or 5 people in at 9.30pm

And a few dining. 6-8

So I I have tried. Friendly barman . Just the one.

Nonesense.. They will have plenty of customers..

People who live nearer. People who the new facilities suits them. I.E. Sports / Food/ Garden / childrens area.

Passing trade.


It is not compulsary to visit every new Bar, Pub, Cafe, Restaurant, Shop.

Why do people insist we all need to support ALL local businesses. ? Thats not practical.


I do not have the resourses to constantly Eat and Drink out in ED or indeed anywhere else for that matter.

I do my fair share of Eating and Drinking out.

I was in Bristol the weekend before last and couldn't believe how cheap drinks were compared to London.

I seldom drink more than 2 pints. Sometimes just the one.

I gave up drinking myself into a coma many years ago.

There are many examples in several threads where people have said they don't use / wouldn't use a place.


The Pussey Liquor thread is a good example. With some prominent users expressing such a view.


I have not seen any such judgement as above passed to those people.

You just cannot drop the knock Foxy thing can you. ?

I read Sue's response as trying to be friendly (the smiley emoticon gave me this impression) and I didn't read it as an attack of you Foxy, but more as a comment that it is good to have a mix of people. Those who are loyal to their locals and those that try the new openings, move about, or like different things on different days.


Local businesses need both of these types of people to grow, thrive and hopefully survive.


It's a shame you feel like it was an attack on you (I understand why you might, I've seen plenty of unwaranted negativity towards you on the Forum) but in this case I do think you have overblown the comment to feel unfairly judged.


Sue, If I am misrepresenting your intentions then I am happy to stand corrected. Dulwich Fox, keep your head high and do what you do, drink where you want, and eat where you want. Try not to read everything as a 'knock' most of us appreciate your input.

It was indeed intended to be a light-hearted comment, however I do sometimes find the Fox's life view as posted on here and as exemplified by that particular post wears me down :(

With Pussey Liquor people are saying it's a childish and insulting name, and as such they won't be going there.


You're not saying anything like that, you are saying you like other pubs so probably won't bother going the extra distance to the cherry tree (or whatever it will be called).


They are very different things. There are loads of places I will probably never go to simply because I can't be bothered or am not interested. As such, I don't post on threads about them.


You just cannot drop the victim complex thing can you. ?


It's tiresome.
