I checked out what my employer life insurance would pay out in the event of my death today and found out I am worth massivly more dead than I am alive. I'm tempted not to go on. So on my tombstone I will go for:

"He partied hard in his short time, but his life was well insured. Now his wife and family can party too.."

Contrast with Spike Milligan:

"I told you I was ill....."

Actually it was written in Irish "Duirt me leat go raibh me breoite". Which is more words than "I told you I was ill" but there you go.

What's your epitaph?

Come on Skids, after what your grandad put on his stone, I think you need to make more effort.

    • Why have I got a feeling there was also a connection with the beehive in Brixton on that road next to the gym
    • Ah, thanks,  it all comes flooding back. I've actually been to the Hastings shop, I'd forgotten all about it, along with her name! Didn't she (in between?)  take over what  was then The Magnolia, previously The Magdala, now The Lordship, with her then partner? Or is that some figment of my imagination?  In fact, didn't they transform it from The Magdala (much missed) to The Magnolia? With flowery wallpaper covering the front of the bar? Which reminds me of the pub's brief period after The Magnolia  as the ill-conceived and ill-fated The Patch.

    • A belated recommendation for Iain and Paul od Oddbods who came to help me with various jobs before Christmas.  Painting ceiling, renewing silicone around bath, repairing a window sill which was almost beyond repair and hanging a large mirror.   Very happy with their work and they are friendly and very reliable and excellent at communicating.  No hesitation in recommending them.
