sanity girl
Hi, can anyone recommend a good hotel in Istanbul? My parents (in their late sixties) are going for the first time in July and are looking for somewhere pleasant and welcoming - they usually favour smaller family run hotels with good breakfasts and possibly some outside space. Thanks! matthew123
Cannot remember Hotel names I have stayed in Istanbul, but I'd say go for a hotel in the "Sultanahmet" district (the old part of Istanbul) where you have most of the tourist sites and which is well stocked with Hotels. Cassius
We stayed here:http://www.emzoe.com/I think that should suit (as long as your parents are quite fit as there is a spiral staircase and no lift). The breakfasts are absolutely wonderful, and the garden and rooftop terrace (with views of the Blue Mosque, the Haga Sofia and the sea) are brilliant. Marmora Man
Agree - Sultanahmet is the area to stay. I found a Best Western place with rooftop bar and views of the Sea of Marmora. Easy to walk to all the key sites. Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/6356-istanbul-hotels/#findComment-203792 Share on other sites
matthew123
That's jogged my memory, think I stayed at the Best Western Citadel, it was a 3 star and plushly furnished. If I remember correctly it had a roof top terrace for breakfast. Also had a Hotel lift which maybe useful in July.
