Any recommendations for someone to fit a carpet?

I need someone who can fit a carpet in a hall and stairs including a couple of landings. It would help to have their advice too on type of carpet, underlay and the amount I need to buy.

I would second the recomendatio foor E&J carpets. They are really helpful, their staff are knowledgeable and attentiv, much more so than other shops that I have visited. They even came and measured my hallway before I committed to ordering a carpet. I went with an artificial carpet although I always assumed I would always choose wool but the new artificial ones are really easy to clean and feel like wool and are not subject to moths

We just used Jim Cox based on recommendations we saw on here and he did a really fantastic job. He even asked for less money at the end of the job than we had originally agreed as it turned out to be a simpler job than first thought. Top bloke.

Nunhead carpets were great when we had new carpets put in when we bought our flat earlier this year. They were also brilliantly flexible when we had to change the fitting time due to us having to replace missing skirting boards in one room (don't ask!)

Definitely use Dave Bassom (07867974124). He fitted carpets and a striped stair runner for us, was brilliant and nearly half the cost of another oft-recommended person on this forum.
