To the 3 fellas drinking Stella at 8am on the balcony above William Rose this morning

Recommended Posts

I drink. Plenty. Too Much. Often it's Stella

But 8am in the morning? Even on the most laid back holiday that just couldn't happen

Maybe I'm getting old but that's a bit too "frat-boy" for me

Does't seem like particularly good weather for outdoor drinking, but if they've had enough, possibly with some class A's thrown in, they're probably not noticing. I miss those days of, well, last year really.

Fatherhood wearing you down then, don't worry it does get easier (after about say 4-5 ish years )I promise. Only then the second one comes and messes up the plan.

I think in the end you just give in.

Its the "We are going on holiday, its 4am at Gatwick, lets have a beer!" folk that amaze me. 10 out of 10 for effort, at that time in the morning I am incapable of speech let alone able to order and down a pint.

Thats a must when you go on holiday. Always hate it when you have to fly on business and can't have a bevvy.

Drinking alcohol during the daytime, whether it be 8 in the morning or 4 in the afternoon is for dickheads. Sorry for being harsh, but that's how I feel about drinking alcohol during the day.

I smoke dope during the day (weekends). Far more enjoyable and I don't feel drowsy all day either.

Valium

I came back from LA a while back, the guy next to me popped a couple of pills & asked not to be disturbed, then wriggled into a giant fleece sack with an internal drawstring pulled tight over his head and "hibernated" the whole flight back.

It was most bizarre as the guy was about 6ft 6 tall. As we landed he came to and popped himself out of his cocoon fresh as a daisy, rolled up his fleece and was away.

Seems like the way forward

What "Dickheads" we are then or so it seems, though nob-jockeys smoking dope any time of day is OK apparently.

How do we keep up with what's Vogue ?

    • Thanks very much for that.   I think the better informed we are, the better our discussions will be. The article contained: "That arrest had quite an impact on the [phone theft] numbers for the following month,” said Green.  Here's another indicator, admittedly a piece of police PR,  of how well-targeted police efforts, mostly invisible to us,  can when successful  seriously affect offending figures: https://news.met.police.uk/news/met-police-drive-down-theft-and-robbery-by-84-percent-in-battersea-and-nine-elms-500495.
    • Another excellent article from Jim Waterson's London Centric reporting https://www.londoncentric.media/p/kitchen-foil-and-algerian-markets?utm_source=substack&utm_medium=email Interesting that there seem to be favoured and repeated routes for phone snatching for particular thieves.  Seems ED might be one of them ☹️
    • Anywhere near the Overground/Windrush due to its excellent transport links.  You will get larger place in SE23 for example that will give you enough spare cash for private school if that's what you really want but states schools generally good, reflecting the demographic  Easy to get to the bustling streets of East Dulwich but in ten years see what happens to Forest Hill centre.  The whole of the area is full of green spaces. Access to East Croydon for days out in the South Coast
    • Could East Dulwich or Forest Hill work? Some properties on Underhill Road and Wood Vale have large gardens e.g.  https://www.rightmove.co.uk/properties/161079866#/?channel=RES_BUY  You'd be close to the Horniman, Dulwich Park and Peckham Rye. Transport might not be what you're looking for though e.g. a 15 minute walk to Forest Hill station for the East London line or mainline into London Bridge.
