The record shop won't happen because of high rents and low turnover - especially during the week.

I think a cinema could really work though - a small place with just two screens showing a mixture of mainstream and indie films would be perfect. A little concession counter selling coffee and cake during the day, beer in the evening...

There was but they no longer operate out of the shop for the reasons Jeremy pointed out. They now occupy a more virtual space (and a pub in Herne Hill a lot of the time): http://dreammachinerecords.co.uk/

"A community run film society, we are long established in East Dulwich and show quality films at reasonable prices"

It's not a cinema but it shows decent films on a screen in front of a group of people.

Bike shop on the rye sounds superb.

Cinema is great but to be honest you've got the best in London not too far away. Brixton Ritzy is really nice since all the work, and for cheapness there's PeckhamPlex.

Plus, hate to be realistic and everything, but unless one of the churches decides to sell, there aren't any apt buildings for conversion.

second the B&B / hotel idea, know loads of couples who live in flats with no space for overnight guests and the Diana hotel is on a main road (W.Dulwich) and cpl of others are basically rooms in family homes, which then leaves staying in a hotel and paying loads in London Bridge or elsewhere central...

Ah, good old John Lynch.

Bring back the stocks to Goose Green.

There might no longer be free grazing Geese there that could be stolen and the thief put in the stocks,

but there must be persons who would have allowed animals to cause nuisance to the populace and their apparel.

There could be Aviators causing disturbance over Common ground to the discomfort of the peoples way of life.

A seated stocks for two souls would sufice.

Under health regulations any rotten fruit or vegetables thrown at the thieves must afterwards be removed to be discarded in the Brown Wheelie Bins.

    • Thanks for your feedback - we always appreciate hearing from members about their experience. The pool temperature at JAGS Sports Club is maintained at 29oC, in line with industry guidelines for mixed-use pools.  This temperature has been designed to balance comfort for lane swimmers and families. Air temperature is also monitored regularly to ensure a comfortable environment for swimmers, spectators and staff. The shower Temperature Mixing Valves (TMVs) were changed in December to improve consistency, and we hope this has made a noticeable difference. If you would like to discuss your experience in more detail, please contact us directly at [email protected] or 020 8613 6500 and we'll be really happy to help.
    • One wonders if he would have defected if he had, ahem, held on to the leadership of Southwark and whether he felt that "Labour are no longer the vehicle for social justice" during his leadership election........my how quickly things change in the thoughts of a politician 😉 I think this sums things up quite nicely: A senior Southwark Labour spokesperson hit back: “Local residents can draw their own conclusions about Cllr McAsh’s swift move from Labour leadership hopeful to the Green Party, after he didn’t get his own way. While he’s thinking about his own career, Southwark Labour are delivering for residents.” One wonders if he will stand as a Green candidate in Goose Green.
    • No doubt if he determines to stand for a ward he will enlighten us - at least his track record is one of using this site to communicate (inter alia). I would suspect that (1) his personal views on traffic will have remained consistent but that (2) his views on local democracy and proper consultation will have as well.
    • Yes, but I want to know where he stands on all this stuff now. My feeling is it won't be any different from Labour?
