It is a little known fact that Gadarene Flu inspires immense periods of ennui - one has to resort to starting ludicrous threads, which I suspect is catching.

Mmm, good point. I hear that examination of his lapels will reveal his diet for the previous week. Though, to be fair, that merely calls into question his personal hygiene rather than the quality of his clothing.

Au contraire, good quality tweed can hold the remnants of a lamb pie up to three times longer than some of the mass produced brands.

True. Shepherds pie, though... those bloody shepherds don't take it kindly, and can put up a hell of a fight.

[Brendan]

Well it depends what you?re having for your dinner. Tweed is best for stewed lamb in short crust but if you want to keep a shepherd?s pie around until teatime you?re better off with a soft moleskin. It all has to do with potatoes and the consistency of the shepherd.

Inconsistent shepherds can cause no end of trouble.

It's the fault of those nocturnal sock-washing shepherds. Any fashion editor worth his salt knows that sun-dried socks smell better.

It's not their fault, PGC, the song clearly states that they all were sleeping on the ground. It was sleep-washing, some kind of crazed, out-foul-spot, nocturnal expression of their shepherdly guilt.

Well they could at least dab a bit of perfumes of Arabia on their heels.

PS - I'm sure shepherds in carols don't do nocturnal expressions.

I hope you aren't suggesting that the presence of sheep obviates the need.

Too right. Woolley mammal abuse whilst in in malodourous footwear should be confined only to the festive season.
