I've been to a few of the other ones...and it was fun, great burgers obv but the experience is a bit like eating in a half lit nightclub...with a similar demographic and volume level.

I'm not "old" but probably fall outside their target group by a good decade. "can you turn the music down please?" etc

I'm in my sixties and thought it was great!

I don't usually like loud music when I'm eating but the music was good so I didn't mind.

Nobody made me feel old - the staff didn't recoil in horror :))

I do not like ANY music when eating. Even in the Indian..

I would rather be able to talk if in company.

Certainly even from outside MEATliquor the music is deafening..

And that is coming from someone seemingly deaf for not hearing Aircraft noise.

We didn't have any problems hearing each other speak! We'd have left if we had!

Well.. I'm not likely to go there. Mainly as I do not generally eat burgers.

Having said that, I did have a Burger in the EDT out of nescesity to eat something

after 2 very busy days without eating. Most of the time I dont have time to sit down to eat.

It's become a bit of a chore for me. I just do not seem to enjoy my food these days.

I often go 2-3 days without eating a proper meal. I live on air..

It's impossible to enjoy food when you are diabetic.

You are NOT me.. When I say 'It's impossible to enjoy food when you are diabetic.' I mean me.

I used to eat out most nights. Finances aside I eat out about 4 - 5 a month.

I have T/A's and I get 2 - 3 meals out of a normal curry rice meal. This means I do not need medication

and have a HB1ac of 5.7mmol/L

I am now concidered as Not Diabetic and may of reversed my condition. Although most medical personel

suggest that reversing type -2 diabetes is immposible.

If I were to stuff my face with Burgers and fries and chocolate brownies and ice cream I could well be back to square one.

Not a risk I'm willing to take.

I'm not really a foodie.. Food is just fuel and my body no longer uses it corectly.

Curry Club is the only time I really sit down to eat and leave most of my food. Mick P's doggy bag. :)

I cannot finish a whole meal so restaurants sadly have become a no no for me.

So you see. NOT 'Complete and utter nonsense.' as you put it.

Foxy

There is a happy medium between stuffing your face with unhealthy food and eating boring food you don't like.

A diet of fat and sugar - bad.

The occasional burger and fries or slice of cake - a treat and highly unlikely to do any harm unless your GP has advised otherwise, surely.

When you write "It's impossible to enjoy food when you are diabetic" - one would naturally assume you're speaking for all diabetics, not just yourself. A usual it's all about you. You have a narcissistic personality disorder.

You obviously do not know or have not spoken to many diabetics.

I't is about me.. just as

I have type two diabetes and I still love my food.

is about you. People are different.

Yes. there may well be type 2 diabetics that 'enjoy' their food and eat what they want but most of them are on medication and over weight. You only have to go up to D.E.C.S at Kings to see the amputees who may of ignored the warnings.

To speak openly about ones health problems is not 'narcissistic', and it's not a disorder.

That's just a Buzz word you have picked up from EDF.

I can only speak for myself.. cannot speak for others. that is NOT narcissism. You need to look it up

and restrict its use.

D.F.

I don't need to look it up. I just have to count the I's or me's in all of your posts.

And for your information and education this is what a narcissistic personality disorder is:- "a personality disorder characterized by excessive narcissism or exceptional self-interest and admiration."

Fits you to a T.

You don't need to look it up.. ??

cut and pasted from..

Fits me to a T. ??

I do not know you from Adam and you don't know me to speak to.

When people post on here most people use.. I did.. I went... We went.. I like...

How do you avoid that. ??

To show such contempt for someone one has never met is Pejorative.. It is as ugly as Homophobia and Racism..

But not turning every single thread you contribute to about yourself. Simple really. You should try it some time.

Now, back to Meat Liquor. Agree with Jeremy it does look a little on the small side. Must get quite cramped in there when it's full. Isn't there an outdoors bit out the back?

I'm sorry to hear that Foxy. I hope you can still enjoy your favourite curry.

You know me Mick.. I love my curry and Curry Club but always share a rice and share a naan.. and still never finish my meal. I've alway been a small eater but I think my stomach must of shrunk. (Do stomachs really shrink)

I really do struggle with food these days.

Still ! more left overs for Michael P's Doggy Bag.

There you go 4 I's and 1 me . so J.L. does not need to count them..

Hope to see you at the next Curry Bash.. Are you on a Dry Sept. ?

if its like the other ones it'll be so dark no-one will notice what you're wearing louisa.

Couldn't get seated, staff didn't seem overly interested in us as we were waiting around for a bit beforehand. Seemed to be empty seats too which was confusing. Didn't bother me too much because it looked cramped and the music was too loud for me. We went and got a take away up the road instead. I will be heading to Beckenham next time I want a meal out.

My life has got so exciting of late, that I have genuinely logged on to see what EDF personality, Louisa, thought of MEATLiquor....

Perhaps enjoying a bit of a lie-in after a little too much Meat and a little too much Liquor?

    • Well why don’t you start totally backwards and have an idea as to what nursery and primary schools you want to target - plenty of good schools as you know each offering their own take.  large home - what are we talking about here 4/5 beds I assume with a large garden. North Dulwich Triangle - are you talking about Half Moon Lane and up to Herne Hill plus the other side say Stradella Road etc but don’t think your budget would stretch that far ! So really you want to reproduce what you have in and  around Abbeyville Road but  in Dulwich area to access both the good private and  state schools  - use to Live in Rodenhurst Road years ago - now they are nice big house with good gardens. How long do you want to commute to get to the City.? I assume you want to aces the city via ED Station or ND station and Denmark Hill Station. I know some people who actually cycle to work in the city - faster and not trapped in carriage like a sardine.! One would hope for the money you are considering spending, you won’t be undergoing major works. Dulwich Estate are not known to be the easiest to deal with and my recommendation if you are gonna be knocking down walls, building out or up is to get your self a good surveyor who is use to dealing with Dulwich Estate. My other suggestion would be to try out the trains in rush hour or when ever you both need to get into the City to work. Go walk in Dulwich Park and talk to the locals - that would give you an idea as well or do you have friends living locally. Houses around Telegraph Hill area would tick the boxes  and although limited with schooling might be OK. Good schools but not as much choice as Dulwich. To be perfectly  honest, with that budget and given the ages of your children why don’t you move to the country. -  much better for bringing up kids, commute would prob be under an hour depending on how far and which county. Your kids are still young so really education atm is not paramount. If moving to the country is too far a jump  then why don’t you consider maybe Beckenham or Bromley - lovely areas there as well. schools all decent to. Wishing you the best in your journey.
    • I'd try the Dulwich Village or "North Dulwich Triangle" forums for more local knowledge but I don't think those areas compare to Abeville Road at all. It will be quite a different lifestyle.
    • Yes, Dulwich Village commands a premium and justifiably so given access to the City via London Bridge plus the top rate schools within walking distance.  The bus services are really good also - 37, 42 and P4. The P4 is useful for connecting to the Victoria line at Brixton. It's worthwhile waiting for the right property. I know of one which will be coming on the market in a few weeks - 4 bedrooms and south facing garden circa £2.5m.
