We had a choice of seats and we chose the window seats for reasons I have explained above. The view is irrelevant. We usually see people we know in Lordship Lane.

OK, didn't realise you were talking specifically about Sue. FWIW I don't think you're an idiot... I do struggle to understand where you're coming from some of the time though...

Fair enough.. I may not explain myself too well sometimes.. It's spending too much time on Twitter and only

having chunks of 140 characters to say your piece. My comments might seem a bit deep profound.

Sorry..

Foxy

Goodness me all this drama over a bit of attention seeking. Seem to have hit the EDF nerve with this one! If people want to sit in a prime position in the window of a new venue lapping up attention, that's upto them, it's a free country! I'm just observing this fact. Some of us get turned away from a restaurant with empty seats, others miraculously manage to get prime seating. Just a perfectly rational social observation, but it appears some folk on here take it personally because perhaps it does hit that reality button.

Well you'll all be glad to know I will be enjoying another take away tonight, possibly Indian, and I am currently sipping a chilled Sauvignon in the garden. Happy Friday everyone!

No, you come onto the EDF instead.

Good work by the way Lou, the Forum's Sweetheart strikes again... :)

I was going to try the Xoco Bar tonight but the Chicken selection from the Menu is a bit sparse..

Stuffed Chicken Masala / Chicken Tikka Masala.. Place seems to be popular despite the competition across the road.

Hope that does not come across too narcissistic talking about something I may do this evening.

Perhaps a selfie stick is in order.. :)

Can we expect a running commentary on every moment of your day from now on, Fox?

😂

And on a different topic, do you know if their chicken is free range?

Running commentaries on MLExit are not allowed.

I'll PM you the selfie pics.. My day is very dull and doesn't merit any running commntary.

I was infact replying to Louisa who is getting a take away. without including here post.

Do not know if they have Free range.. The term Free range is virtually meaningless.

Any animal in an enclosed shed that can see daylight through an opening can be called free range.

Even if the place is so crowded they could never reach the outside.

Foxy

Foxy I am one for prawns, do Xoco have them on the menu? Do they offer a take away service? I think you and I may need to stop talking about ourselves before the narcissism police arrive and caution us. Anyway, over to *Bob* for the final word.....

Not quite true. For meat chickens, they must have outdoor access for at least 8 hours a day. For egg layers, they can be indoors all the time, but are not caged.

Yes but for a simple answer..??? One could write volumes and people sit in debates for hours discussing the subject.

EDF needs to adopt a 140 character policy..

That is true, but...free range farmers are allowed to keep nine chickens per square metre in sheds, but must have 10,000 square metres per 2,500 hens available outside. But there is no regulation on how often the chickens must go outside, just that they must have "access" eight hours a day - it's not like they're all taken outside for eight hours a day every day. In practice chickens are very territorial and dominant birds will prevent others getting to the exits - a significant number, if not a majority, will never actually see the light of day.

You are free range drinker if you can see out of the window you see.

But if you're stuck at the bar you're a battery drinker.

FFS, the definition of free range for eggs is hardly a closely guarded secret:

unlimited daytime access to outdoor runs with vegetation

4 sq metres of outdoor space per bird

plus indoor requirements as for uncaged birds

So this:

The term Free range is virtually meaningless.

Any animal in an enclosed shed that can see daylight through an opening can be called free range.

Even if the place is so crowded they could never reach the outside.

is about as accurate as the normal level of 'expert' posting from DF

I walked past Meat Liquor mid-afternoon and it does see a slightly funny arrangement. I felt quite sorry for the guy sitting in the window, no glass between him and the people walking past a foot or two away or to protect him from the traffic fumes, the sun full in his somewhat red and sweaty face. Didn't look much fun to be honest.

This is correct, but you need to add the exit requirements, which are 2m of popholes for every 1,000 hens - as I said above, due to the way hens interact that means a significant proportion won't actually get outside. And you're skating over the fact that when indoors (which is permitted for 16 hours a day) they're permitted to be kept at a density of nine hens per square metre. Which is frankly sod all.

The park is a Grade II Listed landscape, and has recently been restored with assistance from the Heritage Lottery Fund. A small community garden within the site is managed by the Friends of Peckham Rye. Peckham Rye Park won a Green Flag Award again for 2022. The site is used by the Southwark Health Walks project as part of a Walking the Way to Health (WHI) scheme. Wildlife This large park has several valuable habitat features. The most important of these is the only remaining above-ground section of the River Peck and the most natural stream in the borough. The stream is heavily shaded by native, unmanaged wet woodland dominated by alder, ash and pedunculated oak with a ground cover of pendulous sedge and bramble. Alder dominated woodland is a rare habitat in Southwark. Although somewhat altered with weirs, other artificial structures and ornamental planting, some sections are still in their natural banks and includes yellow flag, watercress, water figwort and cuckooflower. The largest of three ponds supports marginal vegetation including hemp agrimony. A variety of waterfowl nest on the wooded island, including tufted duck, coot, Canada goose and mallard. Substantial flocks of gulls visit the park in winter and bats are likely to forage over the water. Small blocks of predominantly native woodland, mostly on the boundary between the Park and the Common, are dominated by oak and ash with a well-developed understory, but sparse ground flora. Spring bulbs have been planted in previous years. These and several dense shrubberies support a good bird population and small numbers of pipistrelle bats are present. Infrequently mown grassland is located in one large area and was seeded in 2009. It's composition includes giant fescue, ladies bedstraw, meadowsweet, black knapweed and wild carrot. The rest of the park consists of amenity grassland with some fine mature trees.
