Anna and I went to the Peckham registery office on thursday morning,(after I had been out for the night on christmas drinks wednesday, but thats a different and messy story) to register our intention to marry which, from what I understand has to be done 2 weeks before you wed. As we were sat in the office and I was checking out the force 9 from navarone headache somehow we wound up booking our wedding day for Jan the 9th. It only occured to me afterwards that this is also our due date!!! I can't help thinking this maybe tempting fate, now I have gone from feeling like I cant wait for little easy to be born to Oh my god I hope shes late but call me old fashioned we would like our baby born into a marriage. This could be either the best or the worst example of "a good idea and a can do attitude" we shall see!

Happy Christmas forumites and a Happy "uncomplicated" new year!!

hugs as ever

I reckon it's a good plan to have something planned for your due date, otherwise it is the worst day in the world if you spend it still preggers and feeling fed up...but even so, reckon this is taking it to another level.....tee hee!!

Good for you Iain, as Pickle says, a very exciting few weeks ahead of you.

...and the wedding room is not a bad place to give birth in either.

Seriously: you're brave for making plans around that date, if anything it'll be a good distraction should your little one be a bit late!

Wedding was amazing and my wife was the most beautiful woman I have ever seen, when she came in I nearly burst into tears but all went well and little Elsa never arrived at the registery office, however Anna went into labour at 6am this morning so married life begins with a bang!! how very exciting I am so proud of her!!

wish us luck.

hugs as ever

    • No they aren't. You're coming across as a smug, superior liberal, and that's what old fashioned voters (labour, Cons and now Reform) hate. That 'the deplorables' 'they're all ignorant racists' line is what's driving people away from the traditional parties and towards Reform.  You're as guilty of looking back as Labour. This is a new, post-europe world and we all need to come to terms with that, make do with what we have, and move forward.
    • I have sympathy with any voter, anyone, who having witnessed the last 14 years and then Labour in the last year and wonders just how can things be this bad  unless a) they voted for brexit b) voted Tory after 2010 c) is thinking of voting reform  because anyone who thinks reform won’t make things a thousand times worse after voting for the previous?  It is they who are the problem.  They are the reason the country is in the doldrums with an embarrassingly-timid Labour government  Specifically Chris mason - a not very bright right leaning stooge - large part of why bbc news has become grok-level slop
    • In what way? Maybe it just felt more intelligent and considered coming directly after Question Time, which was a barely watchable bun fight.
    • Yes, all this. Totally Sephiroth. The electorate wants to see transformation overnight. That's not possible. But what is possible is leading with the right comms strategy, which isn't cutting through. As I've said before, messaging matters more now than policy, that's the only way to bring the electorate with you. And I worry that that's how Reform's going to get into power.  And the media LOVES Reform.
