It's an allegedly imminent manifestation of a concept, tickled up with a vision of the Madonna, that's predicted to materialise before the Rapture and opposite the Wash'n'Dry.

Or, paraphrasing their website, a self-sustainable, self-sufficient, re-invented, community-owned, -managed and -supplied independent urban bar, restaurant, kitchen garden and/or gastro-pub.

It's looking good to me after the Mag slid off the planet we need a bit of a buzz there - the refurbishment work looks good as it's the whole building and not just a lick of paint.

They published the Kerry Moss (masterchef winner) menu and the food looks great - stop moaning and support local businesses and ventures - they have to sell it otherwise.......!

Meat will come from a single cow, two lambs and a pig which will be grazed on rotation on a grass eco-roof. Fish will come from a small pond at the back which will house pellet fed rainbow trout in Evian mineral water.

And it shouldn't be viewed as pub food, forget the Mag, This is not a gastro pub, this is a restaurant opening in an old pub.

Good luck to them.

Not that I'll be visiting, but that's because I don't really do eating out, nothing against them.

They disagree-

THE PATCH - LONDON'S FIRST SELF-SUSTAINABLE COMMUNITY PUB

"The Patch is a community gastro-pub that is owned, supplied and managed by the local community"

Some pub... some community.

Agree with all sentiments above; expensive but, if it delivers what it promises as toasted (Franklins or the Palmerston) does and if it is somewhere you go for special occasions, then it won't break the bank. You can't expect top-quality well-cooked food at pub prices. They seem in keeping with all other quality restaurants in the area. Good luck to them - especially as it's off the beaten track.

Its Palmerston prices I geuss so no reason why it cant also do well, assuming they get the food right from the start.

As for drinking, Nice to have something working again in that space, good place to stop for a first beer on the way down to the "nightlife" at the end of the lane.

It's almost my local so I shall be giving it a go and as usual I want it to be successful. I don't believe "self sustainable" is anything more than a marketing bollocks though and it just bugs me. Growing a few of your own tomatoes/herbs onsite doesn't count. Part sustainable, some of our own produce grown onsite fair enough. But for a November opening I expect much of the menu above to come from the usual suppliers, local or otherwise.

If the food isn't "darned good" they can always do a Flying Pig and say "We're actually a pub not a restaurant" to deflect the critics.

    • Can someone please explain who "one Dulwich" are?
    • We are actually referred to as "Supporters"...2,100 of us across Dulwich...read and weep! 😉   https://www.onedulwich.uk/supporters   Got it, the one where 64% of respondents in the consultation area said they wanted the measures "returned to their original state". Is that the one you claim had a yes/no response question?   Well I suggest you read up on it as it is an important part of the story of utter mismangement by the councils and this is why so many of us can't work out who is pulling the council's strings on this one because surely you can agree that if the emergency services were knocking on your door for months and months telling you the blocks in the roads were delayihg response times and putting lives at risk you'd do something about it? Pretty negligent not to do so don't you think - if I was a councillor it would not sit well with me?   Careful it could be a Mrs, Miss or Mx One.....   Of course you don't that's because you have strong opinions but hate being asked for detail to.back-up those opinions (especially when it doesn't serve their narrative) and exposes the flaws in your arguments! 😉  As so many of the pro-LTN lobby find to their cost the devil is always in the detail.....
    • Really?  I'm sorry to hear that. What did you order?
