  2. Don't knock the weather! Without it 90% of people wouldn't be able to start a conversation!
  3. For future reference (not hoping you'll need it), but all Tube stations (unsure of BR stations) have DNA swab kits for this very reason, although it's usually the staff that get spat on and the British Transport Police are very keen to press for prosecution. It's assault and scum like this shouldn't get away with it.
  4. Luckily the fire was restricted to the office accom at the rear. The fire doors prevented the spread of the fire and the alarm system alerted the fire brigade.

  7. Looks like someone got out of the wrong side of the bed this morning! NASTY!
  8. Hopefully the new bench won't have the same appeal to thieves as the ones that were stolen had. This one was made to measure for that tree. I like it :)
  9. Closed all day today!

  11. You're right PR, we added another speaker this year because of previous comments. We did order a mic that would cut out the music when someone needed to speak, but unfortunately it wasn't supplied. Next year we'll have the appropriate mic and will be looking to relocate the Punch & Judy so that the pa system isn't quite so imposing.
  12. It would be great to find her, I wonder if she even remembers doing it.
  13. Great photos PR :))Will add any that come in to the FOPRP email. :)
  14. All points have been noted and will be considered for next year. :) As Battersea was mentioned, They're holding their annual reunion/fun day/fair at Battersea Park this coming Sunday 13/09. All welcome :)) Catalyst Wrote: I think he likes the sound of his own voice a bit too much personally! Just don't tell him I said that! ;-)
  15. Not if she didn't enjoy it. I've been to events I didn't enjoy and considered them to be rubbish, whereas others have enjoyed them. Just an opinion, but we will look at the reason for it. :) Thanks for all the comments, they do help. Looking from the inside out is very different from attending. We tend to measure the success of the fete in financial terms, but also realise there's more than that to it. When the final figures come out I'm sure we'll have another round of backslapping amongst ourselves, but will also post them on here and explain a bit about where the money will be going. When we start planning the next fete, I'll float all the suggestions with the committee and will be looking for volunteers to help. ;-) Thanks again and feel free to keep the comments coming. You can also email us/me at [email protected] with comments/suggestions. Joe :))
  16. Got some feedback today not from this forum, but thought I'd share it anyway. All the feedback will be given to next years organising committee.
  17. Can you convert the prices into Uk Sterling and Euros for me so that I can do price comparisons on moneysupermarket.com please?
  18. Please send me one of each on a free trial basis so I can decide on which to purchase, if any. Thanks
  19. Passport to Pimlico? More like Passport to Peckham Rye. ;-)
  20. Posted by: chichirara Today, 09:39AM So you'll be back next year? ;-) Posted by: ???? Today, 10:35AM More beer next year (check) :)-D Posted by: Jeremy Today, 10:50AM We're always looking for new ideas and attractions as well as people to help organise and run them. We have been approached by other food vendors, too late for this years fete, but maybe for next year. I think the Hog Roast went down well and there was very little left at the end. The BBQ which was run by The Cafe on the Rye used it's regular suppliers which meant that the quality was assured. Posted by: PeckhamRose Today, 10:58AM I'll note your suggestion of The Cheese Block when we invite the stall holders next year. Sports day theme. good idea! Just need volunteers to organise and run it. Offers? ;-) Will have to check re insurance for Motorcycle rally and Parks Dept willingness. Posted by: taper Today, 11:01AM Thank you, date for the diary :) Posted by: tiger ranks Today, 11:02AM Unfortunately the road is governed by highways and their rules apply. If you were parked on the broken section of double yellow lines, appeal it. If it was for having wheels on the pavement which most logically did, I think you're a bit stuck. I did have a word with the Park Manager today to find out if the pavement was parks, but it's not.:( We discussed having an area set aside on the common for next years event, but again stewarding it is an issue. We will still encourage most people to try to come by foot or public transport if possible. :) Posted by: redjam Today, 11:06AM Although we try to introduce new things each year, we also are aware that to maintain the atmosphere we have to not grow too big either. Still room for improvement though. thanks :)
  21. Peckham Rye Park SE22 Peckham Rye Common SE15 Wiki being Wiki probably doesn't detail the boundary of E.Dulwich/Nunhead well enough. The border is the Night Walk from the corner of Homestall Road to Strakers Road and along to the junction of Barry Road. Event organised by The Friends of Peckham Rye park and Common. So although the fete was held on the common it was indeed a joint ED/Nunhead/Peckham event and does fits nicely in this section. :)
  22. Well the day went by in a blur for me. We had a great time running the fete and hope you had a great time attending it. So what did you like or dislike about this years fete? What could we have done better and what would you like to see at next years fete? Pasting a few replies below from the thread in 'What's On' Posted by: PeckhamRose Yesterday, 05:48PM Thanks PR, would love to see the photos. Ours may take a bit of time to get on here as I'm still waiting for them to be emailed to me. Posted by: legalbeagle Today, 02:25PM Posted by: Alan Feedlebra Today, 06:06PM I can only remember a few, but will find out more in the next day or so. The cutest puppy was a Tricolour Rough Collie Golden Oldie was a 14 year old Border Collie Dog most like it's owner went to a mastiff and his deserving owner ;-) and Doggy Fancy Dress was won by a dog wearing a tablecloth covered in plates with dog food and treats on them stuck to it. It was dressed up like 'A Dogs Dinner' :)) Best in Show went to a Golden Retreiver. Hopefully the photos will give more info too.

The furthest south the Bakerloo Line trains currently go is sidings just under the roundabout. Storage is between E&C and Lambeth North on London Rd. You might be right about the tiny unicorns stables though ;-)
