  2. The Cats Mutha Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- Didn't you think it would've been better to rush the poor animal to the emergency vet? You could only see the external injuries and would've had no idea whether there were any internal ones. Edited because some of my post was more arguementative and frankly none of my business and the rest I'd already posted on this thread.

There are not going to be any on the cycle/pedestrian path that runs almost parallel to Strakers Rd. Safer to use than the road too.
  4. Strakers Road is a 5mph road. I doubt many people, if any observe the limit or anywhere near it. Some of speeds people travel down that road are just dangerous. What's the rush there anyway? The sooner the humps are installed, the better. I'm sure the questioning of this consultation would be very different, if it was a reaction to a fatality.
  5. Such sad news after so much hope! Condolences to the family.
  6. Half page spread on page 7 of the Metro today. Let's hope this brings results and he's home soon.
  7. Re posters/fliers, could any of the local councillors help with getting these printed?
  8. Was the Waterloo sighting confirmed? Could he have been trying to get to somewhere and is there anywhere in his history where trains from Waterloo may go to, that may have some sort of connection ie Southhampton etc? Just thinking that it may be worth looking further afield within the UK. I've been FB'ing and Tweeting this relentlessly and will continue to do. I also postered Elephant & Castle tube station and encourage anyone with the facility to poster to do so anywhere they can.
  9. The 'Chair' of FOPRP has spoken to the Park Manager regarding the early closing of the the garden. Hopefully, this will resolve the recent problem. On another note, the garden's monthly maintenance programme will take place this sunday 6/5/12. The garden will be closed to the public. Volunteers very welcome, meet at 2pm at the garden.

  12. henryb Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Should dogs be allowed at all in a wildlife > garden? Yes, no reason not to allow dogs under control. The wildlife areas of the garden shouldn't be disturbed by anyone, with or without dogs.
  13. This garden will not stay nice if parents allow their children to climb on and damage the raised beds, run across the flower beds and wildflower meadows. There are playgrounds within the park this sort of activity is designed for. If you're asked politely to stop your children behaving badly, have the decency to accept you are in the wrong and don't abuse concerned local residents because of your obnoxious view of your own self-importance. If the woman last saturday that did this, is reading this you really need to consider how your rudness and lack of respect will reflect upon your childrens views of how to be decent members of society.
  14. It's a shame you missed it Renata. It was a lovely day for the opening. As well as the CGS & Big Lottery funding, additional support came from a few very kind donors for seating and from the very generous residents of Peckham Rye, Nunhead, East Dulwich and beyond in their support of the Friends of Peckham Rye annual fete. (Date for your diaries, this years will be on September 1st).
  15. Just had an update on the opening times. Quadron, the park maintenance company will open and close the garden. It will be open from 10am - 5pm everyday (earlier in winter), including weekends (except the first sunday each month, when it will be closed for maintenance. Of course volunteers for maintenance will be more than welcome on those days.) Temporary signage will be posted in the next few days and permanent signs erected soon.

  17. The garden will be open from 8.30 till 4.30 from tomorrow. Signage will be erected soon. Unfortunately, the agreement for unlocking/locking the garden starts tomorrow. (The delay, an oversight in planning. Just a small hiccup.)
  18. I moved my dogs to The Neighbourhood vets for various reasons. Convenience of location being just one. It's close enough to walk to and if I do need to drive, there's parking out front and unrestricted on the road. Another reason was one of my dog's dread of 'the vet'. I was with Lomax, as was then and then with Brockwell Vets. My dog needed surgery at both and learned to associate both places with being handled in places that hurt the most, so a simple visit became quite traumatic for her. I've had to take both my dogs to the new vet a few times since they've opened and so far, my vetphobic dog is quite happy to trot in through the door. My other fearless dog was spayed there a few weeks ago and I found the care and friendliness of the staff great, even receiving a courtesy call to check on her the day following surgery. The premises being bright and spacious as well as the friendliness and more importantly, the professionalism of the vets and staff just adds to the experience. For me and my dogs, a very welcome new addition to our community. Oh, and they're on FaceBook! :)) And, although not a decision making element, I do enjoy a nice cup of coffee made by someone else! ;-)
  19. I spoke to one of the guys yesterday that was working on this area. He told me it was to put in two pitches. I too was confused re the drainage issue.
  20. Chippy Minton Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- Not quite CM. Any deal agreed has only been made by ASLEF, who represent some drivers. The RMT have not agreed a deal for any LU staff, including drivers. The ASLEF/LU deal is also partially optional, with drivers opting whether or not to work extended shifts. Shifts extended beyond previously agreed safe working parameters. Currently, drivers are not permitted to work voluntary overtime.
  21. Been in a couple of times since they've opened and my dog pulls into the vets, rather than her usual panic fuelled pulling back from them. Very friendly and welcoming!
