  3. NEW LONDON OVERGROUND SERVICE: The former East London line has now reopened, with a special service between 0700 and 2000 on Monday to Friday between Dalston Junction and New Cross/New Cross Gate. Trains will not operate on Saturday and Sunday until Saturday 15 May, however, there will be a service between 0700 and 2000 on Bank Holiday Monday 3 May.
  4. In my youth I had a part-time job in a restaurant. It was my job to carve joints at the tables of customers. I also served dessert (just to make my booboo clearer). One evening I was carving beef for a customer, with all the other guests watching me. When, with the meat on the plate, I lifted the gravy boat and asked the customer 'If he'd like some custard with it' The diners fell into fits of giggles and the rest of the silver service waiting staff had great difficulty controlling their spoons whilst trying to serve. I rushed off to the sanctuary of the kitchen with a very red face, knowing I'd have to face these people again at dessert. I did have to face them and they were gracious enough not to request gravy with their sweet! Oh the shame!! :-$

    Precious

I saw it a while back and thought it was a very powerful film. I did struggle to understand what Precious was saying much of the time, she seemed to mumble an awful lot! Still enjoyed it though.
  9. Agreed Milo! I don't agree with taking over a family home, preventing people living in their own homes, but leaving properties unoccupied whilst there're so many homeless and greedy landlords offering hovels at almost extortionate rents, then fair play to the squatters.

  11. You might find this thread of interest! ED Newcomer
  12. This is not the first incident involving this dog or his owner. The man gave exactly the same reason when his dog attacked a friends dog, saying it was because her dog was on the lead! She involved the police and the RSPCA. I will pm you with more details Emily!
  13. Can't you lot coordinate your Ocado deliveries a bit better?
  14. Phew!! I'm glad I live in Peckham!!
  15. Always check at the station. National Rail tickets are weird! ;-)
  16. Just some info on fare evasion: *Fare evasion costs London Underground around ?44m a year. *During 2004/05 London Underground's Private Prosecution Section handled around 5,000 cases, most of these being for fare evasion. *During 2004/05 Transport for London's Bus Investigations and Prosecutions Service dealt with 13,000 criminal prosecution cases, most of these being for fare evasion. *One TOC deals with 3,000 cases of fare evasion, and 500 prosecutions leading to a criminal conviction per month. *For that TOC in only 6 to 10 cases a month (out of the 500 prosecutions) is there a 'not guilty' plea. *Since legislation in 1999 a rail operator can revoke a Penalty Fare if it is not paid and pursue the case as a criminal offence of fare evasion. (TOC - Train Operating Company)
