  1. Okay, in order to try and make a normal discussion out of all this, a serious question for those who put club before country... In what circumstances exactly do you mean? I agree completely about pointless (and far too many) friendlies, in which players could get injured, but outside of that, do people not love the big international tournaments? I just think there is absolutely nothing like a world cup, for atmosphere, bright colours, differnt styles, underdogs and all that. I think it's great! With the exception of the aforementioned friendlies, I just don't see where the clash really comes in? I mean, Atila, surely in an England Vs Netherlands final, you wouldn't want Van Persie to score? Or Anna, same for Torres if England Vs Spain? I cheered Torres and Spain in the last Euro, but wouldn't cheer anyone against England. Thoughts/opinions?
  2. Happy Birthday indeed sir!
  3. I'm guess need's is meant to say Keef. It was the mrs of the poster who apparently thought I was a numpty, and then went on to comment on my big sausage or something like that.
  4. Sorry Anna, I'd lost the will to live, and slipped several posts. Wasn't trying to have a go at scousers either, although it may have sounded that way. It's just something that's wound me up since an old friend tried to convince me his pan of scouse was somehow different to any pan of STEW found outside of Liverpool :) For my part, I'm an England fan first, and would want a United player in an England shirt to take out a Liverpool player in their country's shirt if it helped England. Think that is the way it was in general until about a decade ago.
  5. "we're not English, we're scouse". Er, right. Exactly the sort of bollocks that did my head in when I lived there! Why do scousers think they're so different from everyone else? Not really talking football here, its just something that bugs me.
  6. And as for those Germans! ;-)

    Great Gigs

Hi GG, do you know the actual dates of the gigs? I'd like to see Muse live, they always have great write ups.

Again, thirs the problem. Small churches, out on their own, declaring that their brand of truth is definitive. Whether or not they are acting in a Christian manner in the eyes of most peace loving people, their beliefs justify to them, what they're doing.
  9. Only eaten there once, and it was a small wedding party, with a prearranged menu selection, so a bit different. The food was bloody nice though, although very French, and not ideal for veggies like my wife. We were impressed though. No idea what the bill was.
  10. BB I didn't realise she'd been diagnosed with LD, but myself and Mrs Keef were saying the other day that it was highly likely, she even looks mildly Downs, and I don't say that in a piss taking way.
  11. It annoys me when the policing cost is mentioned in every news story about it. Whatever it costs should really have nothing to do with anything in my opinion. I do however feel that this one is probably on a hiding to nothing by now.

Oh, and regarding "mentalist", I'm with Rosie, Mentalist means fruit loop!

Funnily enough, Mrs Keef and I watched "There will be blood"* the other night (set between 1898, and about 1920), and were saying that it's no wonder there are some total loons out there, when churches were started out in the middle of nowhere, with no rules, or noone keeping an eye on them. If you have someone with a big enough personality, s/he can get people to follow them, and before you know it, you end up with a Westboro Baptist Church! * good, if slightly odd film by the way

Couldn't agree more, plenty of nasty things have been done in the name of one God or another, and these people are nut cases. However, trying to paint religious people as a whole in that way is just ludicrous, being that most of them preach peace. I'm also pretty sure that there are some nasty agnostics out there, being agnostic or atheist certainly doesn't make someone a better, or indeed worse person, although the superiority you hear from a lot of them would certainly suggest it did.

I didn't want to put words in to Louisiana's mouth, but I did read it as a bit of an unnecessary dig at christians in general. To be honest, I think this thread as a whole is rather unnecessary. I thought it was going to be a debate, and expected loads of people getting really wound up about a very emotive subject. No such luck.

Er, not quite sure what the point is here. I'm pretty sure that the extemist mentalists Rosie was talking about, are in fact the Crazy Christians, as you put it. ;-) Unless Rosie's post sid something different before she edited it.
  17. I thought the 2 dance groups were genuinely good to watch, and really talented. I thought everything else was pretty shite. As for dumbed down tv, have you not seen panarama recently? BBC are as guilty as anyone.
  18. RE Everton, it's a blow for them that they can't afford to sign Jo, as he's been good for them, but it would seem he's heading back to City.
  19. RIP Indeed.
  20. Show me where I've had a pop at United (i can promise you that you both, SP especially, have had more pops at other teams than I have about anyone!)? Couldn't agree more about Giggs, and just think Ronaldo would earn a lot more respect if he behaved a bit more like that. Victim complex or what! Aaaanyway, hoping for a good game tomorrow. Not a huge fan of either team, but would be pleased to see either manager walk away with a trophy.

  22. Ronaldo basically started getting a bit huffy when it wasn't going his way. He also got very greedy a couple of times, which led him in to dead ends. Fergie was screaming at him from the touch lines. Good as he is (and he is very good), he doesn't react well when it's not going his way IMO.

  24. Speaking honestly, did either you, or SP, think that Ronaldo behaved like a bit of a tw@t during the match?
