  1. That's horrible, and fair play to you for your view on things.
  2. Why LOL Daisie? Have I just fallen for a joke?
  3. Bloody hell woof, really? Sorry to hear that!
  4. I don't think it makes me a "fuck!ng bleeding heart liberal" to not want capital punishment, I just can't agree with ending someone's life, whatever they've done. I'm just not comfortable with anyone having that power.
  5. ClareC Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > The Courts decide on punishment not revenge!! Its ridiculous to claim punishment is revenge when there is no personal involvement! Quite.
  6. Would be cool to have a get together to watch a match!
  7. I still think it's a good idea, and would have gone, had I not been skint. Will definitely make an effort for the next one.
  8. Not that today's weather has helped, but I think the idea was that the summer drinks would be nice on Saturdays so that people could start early, enjoy sunshine, and bring kids.
  9. BBW, you say that any punishment is by definition revenge. I disagree, I think revenge involves a certain emotional content.
  10. I agree with Jeremy, and I'm afraid it's for humane reasons.
  11. I have no problem telling people who I've voted for, and like Brendan, I don't tend to ask people, unless very good friends.
  12. Yeah, but it's not going to happen. I don't vote for either of the big 2, and never have, but people believe that not doing so is a wasted vote. Or they will vote for one simply because they can't stand the thought of the other. Lib Dems have been growing, but are still a way away. Plus, I look at the Lib Dems as a bit slimey these days, and I used to vote for them.
  13. I am not a person who will "never" vote tory, because of what they did years ago (my wife is), I won't vote for them now, because I don't trust them. However, I think they will be in power soon enough, and if they do what they say they will do (which is my problem, I don't think they will), then I may well vote to keep them in in the future. Being from a social care background, and having a wife who taught, and was disgusted at the current system, I strongly believe that changes are required, and that "reducing unnecessary bureaucracy" would make people feel that it was worth training to do these jobs again. People go in to all of these jobs, because they want to help in some way, and I have seen so many good people walk away because they have become pen pushers. I blame Blair's Labour for that.
  14. I don't think we'll make it I'm afraid. Had Paternity Pay (or lack thereof) this month, and it's ruined me. Shame, as I was looking forward to bringing the girls down.
  15. Post of the month. Not when it comes to their front bench it's not! With regards public services, I agree that Labour haven't really improved anything, if you scrape away the false image given by their performance indicators. The problem is, the tories have said nothing to suggest they'd do better. Whether you agree with it or not MM, Ted Max makes a good point, in fact, it's THE point. The problem is that people basically have the realistic choice of one or the other, so if one is at rock bottom like Labour are, they only have one other "viable" choice. Viable really doesn't mean good. I mean, tell me, what will the tories do for the overworked social workers, teachers, and nurses? All labour have done is make their lives harder, and made a huge part of their jobs in to form filling and box ticking. How are the tories going to make people actually want to do these jobs again?
  16. This is what annoys me most about the whole thing. Tony Blair's ego made him hang on and on, desperate to create some "legacy" other than war criminal, and in so doing, handed Gordon Brown a poisoned chalice, and has not once done anything to help him. I won't vote labour, but I think GB is a good man, and I feel really really sorry for him. He'll be remembered as a terrible PM, but what has HE really done so wrong? I don't think he's ever had a real go at being PM, and that is a shame. I'd still put my trust in GB every single time given a choice of him or David Cameron! Just wish it wasn't a 2 horse race.
  17. ???? Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Wot legal said - murder is murder by individual or > state and I don't think there's a grey area in > this. I'm anti. What Quids said!!! I'm also getting so fecked off with Channel 4 news, which has always been quality in the past. Much like after Baby P, they are just trying to expose what has gone wrong with the system, and naming a single worker, like it was their bloody fault! Not saying the probation service is free of blame here, but come on, this wasn't just a street stabbing, this was a nasty nasty murder. Calling for a load of resignations is not going to sort anything out!
  18. Whilst I agree with DaveR's point above, I still find this to be quite worrying. Clarkson gets paid for his opinions, do I listen to a word he says? No, I think he's a complete tool!
  19. Can confirm that. Moved recently, and not yet registered, so they said just turn up at polling station for previous address.
  20. I shall definitely be voting, so as to keep the undesirables out, including the tories of course.
  21. David Haye injured and fight called off. Shame.
  22. So ignore it.
  23. On this occasion, I read Matthew's post purely as a joke.
  24. Just a note to say that Punch Out for wii is full of old school charm.

    Great Gigs

Yay, a mate has just secured me a ticket in the VIP box for Muse. Usually prefer standing tickets, but will take what I can get!
