  1. I ended up buying a massive tub of sweets for trick or treat, and still have most of them. My teeth need help. I'm not at all against giving the teacher something, but for me, something made by the child is the way forward.
  2. I think schools should discourage this, or request that only presents made by the children should be given. Not saying teachers dont deserve a present, but this creates pressure on parents to buy something, and for some people it's probably an expense they could do without.
  3. I suspect you're right. I definitely question how much lasting impression it makes. Anyway, cheers to you too :)-D
  4. I really wanted to like Dexter, but when I started watching it, I just didn't really get in to it.
  5. Not that it would've made a blind bit of difference had I wanted to follow it to the letter, as Mrs Keef is totally anti GF, and she calls the shots :-S
  6. Sorry, my phone is misbehaving, so that got half posted. And Helena, you're pretty much my favourite poster in the family room, and 95 times out of 100, I totally agree with what you say. And even for the other 5, you still put your arguments across in a very sensible way, without getting over passionate ;-)
  7. Just for the record, I never made any accusations of abuse or neglect, and I wasn't talking about Gina Ford specifically (although I still question what qualifies her to tell people anything). I mean no offence to anyone, but I do have my opinions. I take on board the suggestion that the language I chose was probably inappropriate. I don't think anyone would do something that was cruel to their own child (except a few nut jobs), but I could never ever do things like CC, because it would feel cruel to me. helena, to answer your question, not all the way through. Read about a third, before deciding it wasn't for me. Also completely agree that GF has become an umbrella term.

  9. Okay, I'll put my head on the block. There are SOME aspects that I would call cruel, yes.
  10. For the record, anyone who thinks that giving a baby a bottle is bad, is a fcking idiot. I do think that a group for people following a similar style is a good thing though. It's peer support, nothing sinister about it. The "I like biscuits" thing is for general use, which is great, it doesn't have to be an us and them thing. But if people have made a particular choice as to how they want to approach parenting, why shouldn't they meet with like minded parents, to support each other? Controversial, but I find I have to agree when it comes to certain aspects.
  11. Well yeah, that's what I meant by smug, probably should have worded it better.
  12. My wife would be interested, if you set anything up.
  13. I thought he came across very smug, and as you say, couldn't really care less.
  14. Low batteries
  15. Mongrels was absolute fecking class!!! Erm, if you think that things that are just plain wrong, count as "class". I loved it anyway.
  16. Qatar?!?!?!? WTF?!?!?!?!?
  17. Ha ha Huguenot, beat you, and even managed an exclamation mark on mine! >:D
  18. Rusua!
  19. God he goes on a bit!
  20. Ahem, it was a, erm, pleasure? :-S Your office parties sound a lot more fun than mine by the way!
  21. Cross posted with both Huguenot, and Rosie.
  22. DJKQ, I think the real problem here, is that yourself and Huguenot share similar traits. You can both be guilty of putting words in to people's mouths. I've said that to Huguenot before, and he accepted it. I'm now saying it to you. Case in point; Where, prey tell, is that from? You're trying to paint H as a big nasty sexist, and I think you're completely misrepresenting what he is actually saying. I also hate people saying things like Which is just a nasty form of bullying (not that I think H will lose even a seconds sleep over it). Firstly, you do not speak for the forum and it's members. Secondly, no one on this forum knows what everyone thinks of them, and I am sure that pretty much every poster on here has their supporters, as well as people who think they are really really f**king annoying!
  23. I was told they'd registered an interest, before the election, when a local Labour party member came knocking on our door. Since then, my father in law has heard things, so definitely seems to be a strong rumour, but I'll believe it when I see it.
  24. I've never gotten round to watching that. Already did another thread on it, but Misfits is definitely my current fave.
  25. Keef Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Really enjoying Pillars in my household. Good old > Lovejoy is great. Have missed him since Deadwood > finished before it's time. After a flying start, this got more and more silly, and I could baely be arsed watching the last couple. A woman giving birth quietly under a collapsed cathederal was one of the more realistic parts.
