  1. Er, there is an M&S in Woolwich, so I don't think they are that fussy! ;-) It's overrated though, but they do do a damn fine lemon cheesecake. Surely there are plenty of more interesting things than a bloody food shop an area could have though.

    Euro 2008

Ha, that's reminded me of 8 out of 10 cats when Jimmy Carr (is that the presenter's name?) said something like "it's the euro 08 final this Sunday, and it's nice that we as Engligh fans will be totally mutual with Spain playing THE NAZIS!" >:D
  5. Back on topic, a nice localish way to spend a Sunday would be at the gypsy hill tavern for the open mic. If it's sunny they do it outdoors in the garden, and a lovely day it is too! Worth calling before to check it's on though. They did one yesterday, which I missed unfortunately, but don't think it's every week...
  6. I have no opinion on the place, but I thought it was closing a while ago, or did I imagine it?
  7. to ensure Mockney Piers' delight.
  8. Um Nongo umbongo, they drink it in the congo... >:D

I watched that too (and have since taken an interest in the nutters), "the most hated family in America" (not surprisingly really), and I had exactly the same thoughts about the poor kids, taking a 5 year old to picket a funeral and shouting "God hates fags" at people... Nice :-S It's all headed up by Fred Phelps, a very nasty character indeed! What I always found really odd was that there was another guy there who had also gone in as a TV reporter making a documentary, and he got totally sucked in to the whole thing! Slightly off topic, the thing about the kids getting out of it is interesting, and reminded me of Nazi Pop Twins, a documentary made by James Quinn, which showed the 2 twin girls known as Prussian Blue obviously becoming uncomfortable and embarrassed by their horrific neo nazi mother!

    Euro 2008

Cracking goal, and well deserved victory! I am well chuffed, as I walked in to the office today, and my colleague presented me with ?45 for our predictions game. I'd given up on it, because all my first round score predictions were bad, but the fact I had spain to win, spain to score most goals, and germany as runners up won it for me! Hurrah!!!! :)-D Particularly useful as I lost my wallet at the weekend with all my cards in it!
  11. Birkenhead isn't too bad, I could never really see what all the fuss was about... Lagos anyone?

  13. Kels when was the last time you where at the plough, It's lovely in there. Also, and I mean no offence, why did you buy a house near a pub if drinkers annoy you so?
  14. Natasha, are you Spangles? It's just the humour rings a bell ;-)
  15. Except they have put this very odd wall paper up in the "new side", and it looks a bit like a cornish tea room :-S
  16. Brendan you've moved me man! *wipes tear from eye*
  17. Aw memories, that art gallery thing was aimed atme if I remember rightly. Is Spangles really banned?
  18. I popped in to the CPT last night, and met the new manager Chris, and a new aussie barmaid Rachel, and they both seemed really nice. Chris was saying he intends to get some music in there, and is planning on some BBQs outside!
  19. Lets stop mentioning the bar that was there before, I too was a big fan, but if it was being replaced by a book shop we wouldn't be drawing comparrisons, and it's not the new place's fault that the old place went... I shall check it out, although, I totally agree with myrmidon that Lordship Lane needs rock!
  20. That is juat wrong! *spits on sawdusted floor*
  21. Queen and Scissor Sisters, what, no Mika?
  22. Maybe they did something like charging you for a large rather than small wine, in which case those figures would add up.
  23. Carlsberg is ?3, Grolsch & Stella are ?3.30, Think Guiness is ?3.20 now. Wouldn't surprise me if a large white was pushing a fiver now! All the old skool staff (Candice (Aussie), Mari (Saffa), Alex (Yank) & Co) are alive and well, and will be chuffed to hear that people spoke highly of them. I don't really go in so much myself now, as it was mainly about seeing those guys, but it's still my gavourite pub in the area, and it's nice to see some (long overdue) work being done to the place!!!

    Great Gigs

I noticed that Solomon Burke one too, and am very tempted! His voice is fab, and "cry to me" is just an awesome song, even if it was on the Dirty Dancing soundtrack! ;-)
  25. I agree Mag was great for watching footy. However Jamma, I'm honestly not just saying this as a CPT regular, but for me, the CPT is miles better for sports than the EDT with it's horrific blurry screen!
