    The Plough Pub

Yep a guy and his guitar but indoors yesterday. i'm going to have a word and see if I can get a gig for a duo...
  2. No missed it (well didn't miss it, I had no idea it was happening, and I hate the presenters of popworld with a passion that makes me want to destroy my telly). What did she say?
  3. Agreed, she's not the rock chick she thinks she is, she is, as you say, a pretty girl who does pop with a bit of light distortion on the guitars. I would though >:D<

    The Plough Pub

Bumped I went for a roast in The Plough yesterday. 3 of us ate, so had the beef, lamb and veggie between us. Mrs Keef was impressed with the veggie one. And both the beef and lamb were very nice, as was the yorkshire pud (which came with all of them). Decent portions, and nice trimmings. Only down point was the spuds, which tasted like they'd been cooked a while before and had been sitting there waiting to be reheated. Think the roasts are 12 - 6, and we got there about 4, so that might explain it, but not really a good excuse. Still, with the exception of the spuds, it was really nice, and I would go back. Plus at ?8.50, it was a good price compared to others down the bottom of Lordship Lane.
  5. Not quite Ladygooner :-S
  6. No woman no cry? I don't think anyone was being music snobby earlier. It was largely agreed that Coldplay have had some classic tunes (along with some shite). My real issue with them is Chris Martin as a personality, not the music. Plus, a quick look through my record collection would reveal some "awful" stuff that I love! I even own 2 Avril Lavigne albums (although Fear n' boozing "borrowed" one in 2003, and it hasn't been seen since). I love Hey Ya!!!!! Hey Jude, there's a song that whilst not the best song in the world, gets everyone singing along at the end because they don't have to remember any actual words other than the title! Genuis.
  7. Agreed about The Stones thing, made them (Verve) look rather foolish >:D< Regarding Whine Rock, I always find myself liking the odd singles from the likes of Coldplay, Snow Patrol, Travis etc etc, but trying to listen to an album is just painful! Plus, at least the singers of Snow Patrol and Travis seem like okay blokes. I feel rather sorry for the other members of Coldplay, they all got in it together4 as a band, and whilst it's accepted that the singer gets most attention, in their case they are just Chris Martin's backing band. With regards Live Aid / Live 8 and all that, it's great that it happened, and great that the bands took part and helped raise so much money. However, when they start trying to get all morally superior, and shout at us to give all we can, that I can't stomach... If they gave all they could, they might really make a difference!
  8. Cool, lets play the predictions game, we usually do a league at work (with same scoring as Piers has used), but it hasn't happened this year.
  9. You're all crap, Sydenham rocks! ;-)

TillieTrotter Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > I'm afraid I'm with Chrissy boy - love Bitter > Sweet Symphony - infact The Verve for travelling > is a must in my car!!! And you've never felt the need to drive your car in to a wall? ;-) I remember being at a party in Liverpol when Urban Hymns was at it's most popular. It was played on repeat all night! I believe there were 4 suicides. Chris Martin has said that if it wasn't for the Verve, there wouldn't have been a Coldplay, which in my bok is another reason to despise them!
  11. What him or me? :-S Please don't tell me you liked the Verve....
  12. Personaly I think U2 have had a few absolutely great songs, and a load of sh!t ones. Bono is a gobshite. The Edge is pretty cool, but if he took his hat off he'd just look like a bald pikey. Chris Martin of Coldplay is another one who thnks he is our moral gaurdian... He also thinks he's a lot brighter than he is... He also thinks that Bittersweet symphony is the best song ever written... Obviously a complete terd!

  14. Alas I shall be trying not to fall off a canal boat for the weekend... Good venue though ;-)
  15. Why don't you all just join this one, I live in Sydenham (though from ED I hasten to add), and there are peeps on here from Camberwell *shudders* and Peckham. Plus, West Dulwich's own Dulwichmum is a major player on here... That said, hope the forum goes well, you're coming on here and being honest about it, which is more than can be said for the bloke who tried starting a rival forum to this.
  16. They also played the rock garden in covet garden in the early days

You've just publicised his name and full address, is that okay? :-S
  20. Just seen THIS. The graph at the bottom shows that whilst veiwing figures are down, they're not exactly drastically down, so I guess they're happy enough.
  21. The original Bill theme. Black Beauty!!!!! (how did I miss that one?). Loads are springing to mind now... TRAPDOOR (There must be something down there). King of the hill.

    Great Gigs

One of the best shows I've seen was Nickleback at Hammersmith in about 2003-04. Now I'm not really a big fan, but went along cos I like gigs, but they put on a great show! It was very Spinal Tap, in that the guitarists were stood either side of the singer, then these platforms rose about 20 ft off the stage on columns, and they were stood up there! I would have sh!t myself and fallen to my death, but I guess they were strapped on. They also did Metallica's "Sad but true" which myself and my metalhead mate Ant enjoyed. Like I say, not a massive fan, but the show was worth seeing!

    Great Gigs

I had a bad one at The Counting Crows at Hammersmith. Love the band, but got stuck in the seats upstairs and tutted for trying to sing along or stand up... May as well have listened to the CD at home, could have had more fun that way!
  25. Rhubarb & Custard >:D
