Ill considered comment about child cancer patient.
Keef replied to curlykaren's topic in The Family Room Discussion
I too have had PMs, and I'm not just saying that. Something that has been said several times about different areas of this forum (and I disagree with it!), is that it is full of cliques, and outsiders are not welcome. I don't think this is the case, but people do get to know each other, and it can come across that way. For that reason, I think some people get nervous about posting. The family room definitely has a central group of regular posters, and if they are all agreeing about something, it can be intimitading for others to post. I personally decided to forget the forum all together as it was doing my head in, but then I read a few things in here and it got me interested, so take that as a compliment. First sb says to me Followed by Molly saying to Helena (admittedly you go on to say that you could be misreading) Helena has just encouraged me, nothing more, but there really does seem to be a bit of a "if you don't agree with the status quo, then don't say anything. If you do, then you're clearly not really enjoying the vibe in here". I really wish I'd never posted on this thread, as I didn't mean it to turn in to this, and I do intend to continue reading, and hopefully taking part. I will however, continue to speak my mind, not to wind people up, but because I feel strongly about something. Anyway, peace & love people! CUDDLES! :)-D -

PS. I think the one armed girl is called Kerry. The fact that she has a lower arm amputation should not be an issue. She should however be taken off air for the annoying ernest look she gives to the camera whilst singing "the time has come to say goodnight"!!!!!!!! -

You must be bloody joking! Okay ladies, kinky as it may be, I cetainly don't mean to sound like a headmaster (if you knew me, you'd laugh at that idea), but I also don't play Devil's Advocate, I just believe in what I believe, and will voice it. I probably do have a different outlook, born simply from the fact I'm male, and sometimes I think that conversations on here get a bit carried away with group outrage. sb, I would never dream of trying to change anyone, but just because I disagree with a general point, does not make me wrong (or right). I do enjoy some of the threads on here, and I ignore some too. There are some however, that make me grimace, and I feel I need to have a say just like all of you. For the record, I fecking hate Top Gear, and have never driven a car in my life. I don't know though, I am feeling like perhaps I should step away from the family room, because I like a debate, and I don't say "Hugs" at the end of all my posts, so I don't quite fit in. -

Harmless unless you get your name and photo on the Daily Mail website! Generally though, you're probably right, and I shall say no more. Oh, and for the record, best wishes to the little boy, no one that young should have to go through a cancer battle, it sucks! -

Hmmm, perhaps I shouldn't try to chat with "girls", as I find it all a bit scary in here at times. :-S To be fair to Rogue apostrophe, I think their point was, that speaking to the woman at the time would have been useful, saying nothing, then posting on here does nothing to actually help the situation, hence the term "p!ssing in the wind", i.e. a bit pointless. So do you all see what the majority say on here (via sonar), then decide on what is morally right, based on what everyone else thinks? ;-) -

Not looking to start a ruck. Anyone can start a thread on anything, but in this case, it just seems like a reason for everyone to condemn some unknown woman, for a comment she made. For all we know, she could be the nicest person in the world (or not), and didn't think before she spoke. -

Probably better to just not have started it. -
Is anyone watching "One Born Every Minute" on C4

That's how we looked at it, but hey, different folks, different strokes (of backs) and all that. -

Yes it was, but to be honest, I'm not sure it needed to be posted on here so that everyone can agree what a nasty piece of work this woman was. The kid (luckily) didn't hear, so there was no real harm done. Having a word with the woman might have made her rethink her actions. Posting about it on here has no positive effect other than to give everyone something to tut about. Just my opinion. -

Mrs Keef and I didn't like the boyfriend/husband of the younger woman. I'm sure he is a nice guy really, but both of us thought he sounded really patronising and fake doing this high pitched "you're doing really well" kind of thing. She was obviously really intelligent (and funny), and I'm surprised she didn't lamp him. The other couple were great, and I was pleased it all went okay in the end. I don't know if this programme would ever show a sad ending, and I hope they don't, but I thought that might have been it. Hope they stay together, and that the kid does call him daddy! -
I have posted more on this forum than any poster, and used to love "The Lounge", back in the days when it was really funny, and there were interesting conversations. These days however, I barely read anything in that section, and very rarely post in there. I admit, that being a bloke, a lot of the stuff in this section doesn't really involve me, so I don't read it all. However, becoming a dad this year has been a life changing experience (especially for someone who had my lifestyle a year ago), and some of the stuff in here has been really interesting for me, and really useful. Big thumbs up, I just wish some of the other dads would post a bit more, as I have to say, it is a little bit of a ladies room, but I guess that was always going to be the case.

Agree it's an > all-time classic, my brother's called Max so we > especially loved it in our house. I watched a bit of it on a plane, but was too tired to get in to it. I'm sure the film is good, it just seems to take away some of the magic of the book and the drawings IMO.

New Forest. Get a train from Waterloo to Brockenhurst (approx 90mins). Hire bikes one day, and ride around the forest. Take a trip to Hurst Castle another day (walk out to it along the shingle spit, then get the little boat back. Oh, and when in Brockenhurst, go for a meal at the Italian place "Il Palio 2", right by the station.

Can anyone lend me a baby monitor?
Keef replied to The Nappy Lady's topic in The Family Room Discussion
I have a spare one that's never been used. It's just a simple sound one, nothing flash (although I've never seen the point in all the "useful" things our flash one does to be honest). -
Sorry SW, didn't mean to sound like a teacher, but that thread touched a nerve (not a breastfeeding one for me personally), and it's best forgotten IMO. You can come out of the corner and rejoin the class now.

Our daughter currently loves "Owl Babies" by Martin Waddell, and the "That's not my dog / robot / baby" books (Usborne Touchy Feely Books). Oh, and "Shark in the Park" by Nick Sharratt. I can still remember loving "Where the wild things are" when I was a kid. Think it's a shame they've made a film of it.

Belated happy mothers day to all of you ladies. I am wondering if I should start keeping a record of money spent on behalf of my dasughter for birthdays, christmas, and mothers day, so she can pay me back when she gets her first job!

That is a good link. Not sure I see the point in As no one on that thread was against breast feeding, and it would seem to be just trying to start trouble for fun.

Private vs State education (Primary level).
Keef replied to fruitcake's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Was it? Of course not everyone is the same, and I was generalising, but I stand by my point that very few people are going to sign up to funding towards state education for the benefit of everyone because they can afford to, rather than just making sure that their own child gets the best. The rights and wrongs of that are not for me to judge, but I don't think I'm wrong. -

Keef replied to fruitcake's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Your post is lovely, and spot on. However, the above will never happen, because the sort of people who can afford private education, tend to be able to afford things because they're not the most altruistic types in the world. -

Bit young yet, but when he's 6 months, one of these might be good, and they have various uses, so will last a good while. -
Who will be playing at The Hob this Friday, if anyone else fancies a good knees up! Sorry, absolutely shameless plug on this nice thread! Much love to the Onion & Cat, who will be going somewhere sunny today. Oh, and Mrs Keef sends love, and thanks for the nice flowers you sent home to her! x

Congrats guys. Sorry for technical difficulties, was difficult with a last minute stand in, but the people on the dance floor did us proud. Most importantly, you both looked very happy, and the cat looked stunning!

Breast Milk STINKS...............apparently
Keef replied to FatherJack's topic in The Family Room Discussion
What a strange post. Who has no real interest, and who's interest passes your judgement as "real"? I am very interested in this, perhaps not for the same reasons as other posters, but still interested nonetheless. Not trying to argue for no reason here, I just find your post a bit weird.
