  1. Just got home from work - and series 3 of The Wire was smiling up at me shouting "watch me now", so I may be gone some time!!
  2. I ate a hamster

  4. Just wait until the new planning quango gets the go ahead, no more pesky councillors or local residents to get in the way of big buisness plans for their big expensive building projects.
  5. It's nothing as bad as having a portfolio of shares in dodgy arms companies (unlike Southwark Council Pension fund!) or taking bribes oops sorry donations from dodgy developers, kind of small potatoes really in comparison to their heinous goings on.

  7. I think it may only really be of interest to the local press. Anyway, I better get on with some work!

  10. Many Asylum seekers spend ages in limbo after being refused asylum (usually always refused at first instance nowadays regardless of the merits of their case) but because the countries they come from are too dangerous to send them back to, they are left with no legal status with ?30 food vouchers and no legal aid for further appeals. Pretty grim, especially as it's usually the West who have profitted from the sale of arms to their home countries that are ripping through their towns and villages in the first place. There are a lot who end up severely depressed and in need of mental health intervention.
  11. I am currently waiting for series 3 of The Wire from Amazon - I'm totally hooked!
  12. I doubt it! Prob just takes the dough and forgets about it.
  13. I'm gonna try to find out how much he charges now. It was ?360 a week per person a year ago for a bunkbed in a shared room for one of my kids friends, but now I think he wouldn't have switched to Asylum Seekers if it wasn't cos he can get more dough. He even provides coaches to ship the poor sods to and from detention centres etc.
  14. That's a bit extreme don't you think?
  15. By the looks of his Bently, he's doing alright. Not sure if his former elderly tenents are tho.
  16. Maybe they should get their act together then.
  17. It is a hostel. It used to be full of kids on the council waiting list but I think it's mainly filled with asylum seekers now. Apparantly it was an old people's home before that, but the Irish guy who owns it didn't think that made enough money, so kicked all the wrinkleys out and turned it into a hostel.
  18. My brother set himself on fire with fireworks when he was about 13. Him and his mates were throwing fireworks at eachother. He had to put some white cream stuff that looked like lard all over his burnt bits and cover it in plastic for a couple of weeks. He was ok in the end tho. I hope this kid is more shocked than burnt, it put my brother off fireworks for a while anyway!
  19. I always wash them and leave them to dry before I put them in the paper bag.
  20. I remember reading a while back that Veolia are heavily involved in supporting the building of the Israeli wall that is being used to grab more of the Palestinian land and when they bid with Southwark council for the recycling contract their recycling target of 40 something percent or whatever it was, was lower than the other companies bid, and lower than Southwarks own target. How the hell they managed to get the contract I don't know.
  21. Oh yes! But it's got a bit over stage managed recently. They sound a bit too rehearsed sometimes.
