  2. Cllr Thomas, I think if you compare the children's playground in Dulwich Park to the one in Peckham Rye park, there is a big difference in quality and size. Are there any plans to make the Peckham Rye one any bigger at any time in the near future? Also my 8 year old has been waiting all year for the adventure playground to open again, do you have any idea when it will be finished and why did it take so long for the work to start? I saw you at the Goodrich Jumble sale, but didn't want to accost you out of the blue so thought I'd make use of the fact you use the forum!
  3. He's a pussy if he found me scary, I was on my best behaviour! Haha, well sort of!
  4. What about "Do you come here often?"
  5. MichaelP - Contraceptive implant, but good guess for a guy!!
  6. I'd never been to the FHT before, but it's a nice pub and the food was amazing considering it was supposed to be nibbles. Also for any of you wondering, I walked a certain gentleman home cos he was none too steady on his feet and I wanted to make sure he got home safely. I didn't realise until later it may have looked a bit suspect leaving at the same time!
  7. I think you're a bit perky this morning!
  8. MIchaelP - I'm that forgettable then?
  9. Very cheap, but they have a contract that is incredibly hard to get out of though!
  10. Not sure I can fix the world single handed, but happy to give it a go. In the meantime I suggest you have a read of this http://policy.greenparty.org.uk/mfss/ Click on the light green bits to get to the actual policy. It's a bit long and there are a few difficult words and concepts, but if you get yourself a good dictionary, Maurice, I'm sure you'll manage to absorb some of it.
  11. Ignore Maurice, everyone else does. I'm all for local small businesses, I've had a couple myself and my Dad was always running some business or other. It's the big businesses controlling economic and social policy, in the UK and across the globe that I have a problem with.
  12. I Love the fusion gyms, but it is a pity the Camberwell one is so rubbish. Elephant isn't a lot better either. I have a membership but have been a bit of a lazy fattie lately. Will try to change that before the annual pigfest that is Christmas helps me pile on more weight!
  13. But life (even in east Dulwich) is politics, Pete.
  14. Sorry bout that, had some judicial reviews to get in to the High Court.
  15. If the Labour Party got control, which they think they will because of the Riverside by-election, then they would do exactly the same, so no you don't have to vote Lib-Dem, you should vote Green instead cos we are are a party that still beleives in fairness and equitable solutions to our social problems.
  16. I'll take it if you can't find a home. My daughter has been asking for a kitten for ages and if it's young enough it will get on fine with my dogs.
  17. Put ya' hands on the head-board, Think of me, Drippin' sweat on top of you, (not me, Tupac)
  18. This is insane. Unless they are going to provide us with lockable bins they cannot hold anyone responsible for anything inside a bin that is open to passers by (unless it has ur name on!). We definately need tetrapak recycling collections, plus plastic wrappers that are recycleable - as most in Lidl's are - not just bottles, plus recycling for the mercury filled low energy light bulbs they give out free. What about some kind of food waste recycling? Southwark council should get their act together before wasting our money on rummaging through our bins and hounding the people who pay their wages.
  19. Maurice - you have to look at which areas always get the biggest handouts. The Seven Islands got loads too. Hmmn I wonder why the Lib Dem strongholds get all the money?? Wierd that innit?
  20. I think I'm going to start a campaign to have all roads closed and only allow cycling. That'll solve the problem.
  21. How do you think the British/western elite were so good at exploiting the rest of the planet? They'd practised on their own poor for centuries, and yes I do agree that we get it a bit easier in some ways now that globalisation allows the elite to outsource their exploitation, but as vanguard to the elite class, Thatcher realised they had to destroy the gains we had fought hard for in order to do that, and while destroying the power and concessions we had struggled for she told us there was no such thing as class. So where did it go? The middle class are visible and being chased by all the grey political parties. The elite class are visible by their increased wealth, but the working class have been divided and conquered. Marginalised and backgrounded. Set against members of other oppressed groups, each being told their lack of power over their own lives or access to dwindling resources is the other's fault. But I have hope. I believe there will be a rise in working class consciousness with more access to alternative media and direct action and all those who doubt the ability of the underdog to rise up may be surprised by how fast the masses can wake up from their stupor.
  22. I stayed in Belgium in 2000 and got to know an English girl, who had lived in Streatham. We didn't keep in touch but I often wondered how she was getting on. Two weeks ago I went to a friend's party in Hampstead and met a woman who was talking about her friend who had lived in Belgium, and it turned out is was the same girl and she now lived in East London. Then my best mate turned up at the party (I'd invited her) and it turned out that when she first came to London, her and this woman who knew the girl from Belgium had been good squat mates about 15 years previously. What a small world!
